Will an airline company let me pack a scooter in my luggage?

I'm visiting DC in a few days, and I wanted to take my scooter for getting around purposes and to take advantage of any good spots I find, but my mom said she doesn't think they'd let me pack it.

I don't mean on my carry on luggage, I mean the luggage you put on the conveyor belt and they put it on the plane themselves.

Never really travelled on a plane but from what I know, there's nothing wrong with taking a scooter in your bag. However, you can't carry it on a plane as a hand luggage, because "it's a long numb metal object and you could kill someone with it".

EVERY airline will let you check it in baggage. I am in an airport right now and I have been on over 10 flights in just the last 2 weeks. I ALWAYS fly with my bike. I just pull off the wheels and bars and throw it in a duffel bag. You can take a scooter on EVERY airline. I promise. Your mom is far off.

Dude, you can pack it on a carry on I think too. I'm pretty sure that Jon Jacobs carrys it on.

they will definately let you bring it, but do what i do and just like unbolt the mech, fold it, and put it in your checkon bag.

if you check it they will, i do it all the time. i dont know about carrying it on the plane tho they might let you.

yeah dude, i took the foldys off and folded it and carried it on the plane and put it where you put your carry on bags above your head.

I know the Boons take their scooters on the airplane, the just fold them and carry them onto it. I just take it apart and put it in my bag, I can usually take the bars off and it will fit, but it's hard to find big bags to fit my giant bars.

heres what i did when i went to kansas, take two allen wrenches the size for your wheel bolts and for your bar clamp keep your scooter bolted together except take off your bars with the allen and your wheels, this should allow you to get your scooter so you can put it in the bottom or your checked baggage(the baggaged the goes on the bottom of the plane) and this will also only let you take just two allen wrenchs with you so its pretty convient... and you shouldnt have a problem. btw which airport are you coming into dulles ? or reagen?? i havent rode with mckeen in a while but i can show you some spots or parks which ever.
