Ok, lets get down to business here so we can get the ball rolling.
Date: July 22, 2006
Time: Park opens at noon; registration and warm ups from 12 pm till 1pm; contest begins at 2.
--- i would suggest it starting at 3 or 4 just so people coming from out of town don't have to get up so early to leave for the comp so they're not tired while riding!
Place: Xtreme Wheels Indoor Skate Park
356 Hertel Avenue, Buffalo NY 14207
716-871-9361 www.xtreme-wheels.com
Divisions: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Best Trick
I like the idea of having this as divisions but want you to also decide this with me. I don't think we will have many entries for pro and thought this would be best. Let me know your thoughts on this. This is how we format all other comps too.
----its not a bad idea because that way intermediate wont be packed with all the people who were in between intermediate and pro...
Entry fee: $25 flat rate. This fee will include the best trick too. This is what we do for all our comps.
---- i dont have any problems with that
Waiver: must be completed and can be printed from the online forms ]www.xtreme-wheels.com[/url]
---- no problems...
Format: Jam format; 2 people at a time; 3 minute session;3 judges; best score of the 2 sessions and the other score gets tossed
---- i like everything about that except 3 minutes, id go more around 2.
Best trick format: 3 tries at your best trick; judged on difficulty, style, if landed and clean
---- i think we should have 5 tries at it but no biggie if its only 3
Judges: would be nice if Ali will have his guys help, ask him that
---- We need to get that judging thread revived because this will be an important topic of discussion real soon
About Ali: when you do email him tell him it would be our pleasure to have them as our guests and that we are appreciative of the prize donations. You need to get their logos from him and put them on the flyers. This is what you do for anyone who sponsors any event. If you get any other companies, you need to get their logo too. After the final copy of the flyer is made, you need to mail a copy every company that sponsored the event so they can use it for their records. This is proper proceedure. Be sure to put XW logo on the flyers. I am adding Enemy Opposition to the sponsor list and they will donate some merch for prizes. I will get you their logo.
----schweet. be nice alex!
Prizes: Because we are in the beginning stages of setting up the comp, it is hard to determine exactly what the prizes will be. There will definitely be trophys, and merch. I will get the trophys, you get as much merch as you can so each winner gets a nice prize pack. You need to let me know if there is something I can do to help in the prize department because I am leaving this mostly up to you.
-----Prizes should be money, trophys, scooters (hello razor), and just find local places (like the one she mentioned) to donate stuff. I will talk to Full Armor clothing owner (Shawn) and see if he would donate some shirts or hats or something for prizes.
Winners: are we doing 1st, 2nd, 3rd place for each category? Are we having just 1 best trick winner?
-----1st 2nd 3rd in each category sounds good.
Others in park: for all our comps we have let everyone in. They stop riding while the comp takes place. I like the idea of having all sports here, it brings everyone together for the extreme soprts cause. I do not like to tell anyone they
have to leave. The more the merrier.Think on that. It helps the park make money too.
----- I agree everyone should be allowed in, the only concerns i have is that it will be overrun with people and the people who are trying to practice are getting ran over.... But yeah if people other than scooter people are allowed in i think it should be a limited number before the comp but as many as you want during so they can watch
Advertising: how are you going to get the work out? Give me specifics on this. I need to know all the ways you are going to reach your target demographics.
----- I really dont know anywhere you could advertise this other than TPC, SR, and NBS forums. I mean we could post flyers at local parks and junk but how many people go there? Its going to be word of mouth that gets this around to the crowd that doenst come online to the forums.
Advance registration: if you feel that people will be coming from out of town to participate, do you think they should mail a pre registration form and registration fee in advance?
-----"feel that people will be coming from out of town to participate" ??? Thats who 95% of the people will be... people from nowhere near here. I didn't go to the TIC comp so i dont know how they set up the pre registration form or the waiver and how they got them in.
About the flyer: before you mass produce flyers, I need to view a copy for any changes. Email the copy to: info@xtreme-wheels.com.
----- go brian! woot woot!
Before you do anything: Things need to be done in proper order. Before you send out info, I need to review it for any changes. Once everything seems right, then you can begin to post your info and do everything you need to do to get this event happening. A lot is riding on your shoulders to make this THE event. You need to remember that you are representing XW and that you need to be professional from start to finish. I have not doubt about you on this matter, but do need to mention it.
----This comp will be THE event, no questions asked. THERES CANADIANS COMING!
What next: now that you have read all of this, you need to reply to me with your thoughts on each issue. You should print out all coorespondences from everyone and keep it in a folder. This is good for your memory because if this goes over well, we will do it again and you'll have all the info right at your fingertips.
I will wait to hear back from you.
