I think I heard it was because the very first batch, the good ones with blue cores, were made a looooonnnnnnggg time ago like during the original scooter boom. Then scooters died out, and a lot of them just sat in a warehouse and just by being stored for so long they cured better. The new yaks haven't had any time to cure, therefore they suck.
