Yeah, that or take it to a bike shop. They do almost exactly that, but "professionally" hahah. I hate races, I'm soo glad my headset came with a race with a slit in it, you can just push it on with your fingers.
Also idk if its a good idea, but if you have a sealed headset, maybe you could cut a slit on the race? Makes it so much easier

Probably doesn't look bad but it's quite banana'd. The deck flexes now when you are on it too so can ride it with out it hitting the ground haha. Need a new one.

Yeah that's one good thing. It has stronger axles in the wheels too because I broke the original ones haha.

And Ben I want another one too. I got this one for $5 at a yard sale. Great purchase.
