Student teachers piss me off.
here's how this went down.
A week before grades came out for the 3rd quarter i asked my english teacher what my grade for my report card would be. He said 91%. Later i find out when i get my report card it was an 85. I was pisssed. I went into the school the next day to ask him, but i forgot we still had our student teacher. I asked her why my grade went down so low in like a week. She said that she didn't know it wasn't her decision for the final grade it was the real teachers. My real english teacher literally left her alone to teach us for like a month and a half, then he came back to teach us when she went to a new school.
The LAST day of school, he tells me that my grade for the 4th quarter is an 85 (which i deserved because i blew this quarter)... and hes like "well your 3rd quarter and 4th quarter grades were both 85, so if you do really good on your final you could get upper 80's or even a 90% overall grade. I was like "oh yeah i wanted to ask you a long time ago why my grade sucked so bad for the first quarter because a week before you told me it was a 91"
he looked around for awhile and said "well you were missing 2 grades, and one was a paper, thats a test grade"
"i KNOW i had all of them in on time, and i have them all in my folder with grades on them if you don't believe me... whcih paper was it"
well he looked around for awhile in his book and found out what paper it was, and he had a grade for it in there, but not in the computer. my new grade for the 3rd quarter was a 92, because the STUDENT TEACHER forgot to put it in. She fucked my grade up 7 points. i won't even get into her flawed grading system......... but I made it into the 2nd highest college english class that my school provides this year, and yet i was failing her class for a couple days... doesn't add up to me.
ugh. he called down to the guidance office and got my official grade changed, but it pisses me off that our state lets kids just getting out of college completely take over our grades and the teaching position. I'd much rather prefer the teacher who has been doing what he has been doing for years and knows how to communicate well, not some random bitch wing-ing a teaching job until she can get her masters. Fuck them.
