Your video grab thread.

That thread has been around for years. Establishing rules on it now makes no sense. If someone is truly interested in seeing higher quality photos, surely they would be more attracted towards a thread defined by its higher quality over the other, albeit more popular thread.

Simply look at the name, "Riding pictures" by definition it's simply "pictures of riding" not "high quality pictures" or "low quality pictures", just "pictures" Which is what it will remain regardless of any conversation that happens here.

If you keep the hypothetical "Riding photography" thread bumped and people who are interested in it constantly post their newly captured photos (there are many good photographers on the forum so it shouldn't be too hard to do this.) it would remain on the front page and easily viewable alongside the current thread, which would do exactly as you want it to do, inspire people to do more high quality shooting instead of screen grabs. In the end it really depends on the viewer. There's lazy asses like me who screencap because we don't want to buy/have access to good cameras, and there are people who take more pride in their shooting than I do (and many others) who do have the cameras and abilities to shoot higher quality photos. The two threads will be defined by these two factors of people, Screencappers/Lazy people and photographers.

Saying I'm power tripping because you won't get your way is laughable. I give a lot of people many chances, I'm very lax with banning and infractions as of late and I don't "power trip". I'm as chill as I can be without people going a muck here.

I simply don't see the point in separating low quality from a thread that is already established (with many pages of lower quality photos.) instead of starting fresh and making the new thread. "Alright, we have one thread filled with ----- lets stop that and make a new thread for them to post shit in" I understand the mentality, but it just doesn't make as much sense as making a new thread for high quality pictures.

What are you going to do? Post in the current thread like, "Past this post, only good quality pictures may be posted, Aaron has spoken!" That isn't happening.

This isn't even a big deal. My goodness.

Option 1: Let this thread live and impose quality restrictions on your riding pictures thread. (personal opinion: probably best choice)
Option 2: Let yrpt live with no quality restrictions and keep this thread as well (will cause confusion)
Option 3: Delete this thread and let yrpt live with no quality restrictions (will continue to dilute yrpt with shit)
Option 4: Lock yrpt and keep this thread, along with creating a new higher-quality pictures thread. (will cause unnecessary confusion and drama, along with the long term death of all the yrpt photos)
Option 5: Keep this thread and turn yrpt into riding photos general, as well as creating another higher-quality thread. (will cause more confusion, but also might be a good course of action)
Option 6: TOTAL ANARCHY (not a good idea, stick with Hobbes' views against the state of nature)

You're the one who refuses to compromise. I have no idea why you're being so adamant in imposing regulations on an already successful thread, as opposed to simply making a thread for what you want.

it's a win win situation for everyone and you ... don't want any part of it.
That's okay with me. It really is.

It's like wanting rules on the your scooter thread. "No plastic core wheels. That's like, not progressive enough. If people see other people riding plastic core wheels, they won't buy metal core wheels!"

The sport will be pushed back into the dark ages of plastic cores and folding mechs if Aaron does not get his way.

I guarantee it.

I'm honestly not even trying to be an asshole here or anything, but it's hard when the person you're chatting with refuses to compromise at all or see eye to eye.

I see no problem with the solution I gave him?

Wouldn't making a thread for better quality pictures make more sense than imposing rules on the current one? (where someone could just go back a few pages and see older, worse quality photos anyway?)

Someone please tell me what is wrong with this idea. Jordan, you're lurking.
What is your imput on the matter?

i think this thread is tight, it would be cool if people utiltized this instead of posting not actual photographs in the riding pictures thread. there wouldn't need to be rules imposed if people would just use this one instead.

here is a small contribution, zach, issac, and myself.

Idk I'm totally with the idea of better quality riding photographs being posted all in one place. But the name or 'riding pictures' would have to be changes obviously so you don't get some newer member posting vid-grabs in there? Wouldn't say I'm against vid-grabs all that much, but photographs do look a lot better.
