It's actually called "linegraining" when you use sand paper or anything like that to give it a uniform finish or you can bead blast the parts to give them a cloudy/dull/sparkle finish. If you do it to steel it will rust, aluminum won't.

Yes, make sure you all keep that paper and save all your wheels. Doesn't matter. You can ride them, break them, do whatever you want with them just make sure you save them all until I find out what is going on.

You definitely need a thread less headset. The compression system is not necessary to ride the forks but it is highly recommended... you will see why as soon as you ride without it... You ordered A forks but you are riding a Pro Model? I assume that is an A neck maybe on a Pro Model...
