no it's because it doesn't wear down the wheel as quickly. Think about it: less metal means less contact with the wheel which means less wear :)

I have some, they're not bad acutally. But my back ones starting to dehub just a teeny bit. And they don't flatspot that easily and the urethane is great. They just have to work on the glue so it doesnt dehub, and they would be perfect. And i guess if youre not sketchy then theyre amazing :p...
