BMX style tailwhips..

For anyone that doesn't know what I'm talking about, bmx style whips (at least the way I see it) are whips that are caught with the front foot. IMO they look way better, especially if done in a 180 or 360, and it looks less sketchy because you can start the tailwhip from your normal stance (say back foot hovering over the brake) and land in that same stance. I've been working on getting them good for a while now but they're fucking hard to get a hang of now since I've taught myself originally to do whips caught with the back foot.

Anyone else do them like this, or have any thoughts on them?

lol, I whip like that but I always thought it was the wrong way but I never fixed it. it's just more comfortable for me to whip like that I do it indian style lol kick with my back foot and catch with my front foot.. i think its easier to like hurt your ankle though if you dont commit but idk

no, not kicking it with the back foot, that looks ugly. I used to do it that way and forced myself to learn them properly. I meant like kick with front foot/both feet and catch with front foot. it looks really really sick in spins especially in airs n stuff.

i do that. but i can catch whips any way now, front, back, or both feet. i usually catch with both feet during 360 whips and land clean over the break

I don't whip so I don't have to worry about it. But when I do whip I catch hella with my back foot, at least on downside whips.

I own SR.
Whip with the front, catch with the back. That looks the best and most fluid on straight whips but I do agree catching with the front in spins looks better.

I can whip and catch, with any foot i want. But i normally catch with both feet, not a huge fan of watching one foot catches.. unless its over a spine.

Watch Dylan mercer's sponsor/mini video.
Possibly the best looking whip airs in the world.
And they are done bmx style.

thats how i used to do them, but i thought they were ugly as fuck, so i learned them the normal way.

p.s. i love you alex hahahah.

The only reason BMXers catch front is because the frame is what comes around and you stop it with your foot. Also, if you caught back foot on a bike your pedal would go down way bad, and you'd hit shin so bad. Front foot you can hold you brake on.
