well first, just to clear something up, species don't evolve out of need. its the law of natural selection. evolution is random, if it works and is a positive thing for the species, then it will thrive. if its negative, the species will die out.
that is so confusing and wrong.
a fact about evolution is that it CAN either be randomly passed down through generations by a change in the genes or non-randomly through natural selection i.e migration.
what would happen if a whole forest got burnt down where a certain species relied on it? they would adapt to new changes then breed and the new born will be raised in an entirely different place and after generations of this it will become a different kind of species and be a branch off from what it was before. this is evolution

why do we have so many species dieing off then, especially in rain forests? shouldn't they simply adapt, as you say, to the new changes? when was the last time you saw a new species come about as a result of the Amazon being chopped down?
