megapixels dont mean shit.. its all like aperture and lighting and shutter speed and all that jazz that effect the way your picture comes out.

Yeah Megapixels = Pixels per space, sorta.
So it only matters if your taking a photo for something huge.
Most i've seen was 31-32mp.
My mum's friend collects old/new cameras, and is a wedding photographer.
Insane camera, worth a fair bit...

As much as I'd love to agree with all of you and say "Megapixels don't mean anything" I have to disagree. I can not argue with the fact that it doesn't add "quality", nor does it make your photos automatically nicer than before. But, if you have noticed over the years, cameras have started to gain in megapixels. Why is this you ask? Because it does matter. Resolution matters, simple as that. It may not be a huge factor, but it is one to look into. Granted, 4mp should cut it nowadays, but not if your doing anything other than shooting and uploading. Posters need a lot more than 4mp and that's for darn sure. Trust me, having more mp is a huge leisure, and adds a "confidence" to your shooting knowing that you can crop and it won't matter cause it will still have a high resolution. All i'm saying is: you guys are kind of over exaggerating the truth, it may not be the only feature of a camera that matters, however it is a feature, and it is important.

Umm.
Everyone who has said they don't matter has supplied the same reasoning you just did.
No one has just said, they don't count cause they don't.
