it is essential to keep your scooter dialed in, your parts will last waaay longer. kids take it too far, but its good that they learn how to fix their own scooters. i tune my scooter almost every day before i ride. its just better that way.

Theirs a term us engineers like to use called "fatigue." It occurs within all of your parts during impacts, weight shifts, etc. When something isn't tight, your headset for example, it dramatically increases the concentration of force on your head tube, headset, and fork, therefore increasing the fatigue, which will ultimately make your parts not last nearly as long as they would if everything was tight and taken care of properly. Also, having a loose headset will will screw up your headset bearings and make them wear quicker, which will make it so your headset is undialed no matter how much you tighten it.

Basically, there are some things on your scooter that should be dialed if you want your parts to last a long time and not give you a headache. Small things like brakes are not as crucial when dialing in your scooter, and are up to the rider to take care of.

It kills me to see kids with expensive set ups they bought to get their scooter dialed, then ride them completely undialed because they don't know how to perform maintainence, that would have made their scooter dialed in the first place (for free).

Persoanlly, I prefer to try to keep my scooty scoot dialed, even though my headset is screwed up and it becomes loose sometimes.

I really don't care i just don't like the feel of play, although i rode my scooter undialed with massive play for 1 month without a problem

my friend tells me that having play will increase the chances of snapping/bending your forks because it adds leverage on the forks?

i HATE undialled scooters! the rattling and wobbling makes riding harder, i'll ride anything as long as its 4.5 and dialled. the rattling distracts me when i'm concentrating and wobbling destroys my riding! it feels so different and crappy

Feels good when its dialled and fun to drop and hear nothing rattle, but when you constantly ride stuff gets lose and yeah, feels really good when you land a clean trick though

I feel like people forget the piont of after market parts. You don't get part because you can do certian tricks, you get them for strength. Now I realize most of the time the kids that get expensive scooters and can't tailwhip don't need the part because they don't break parts, but what if the kid was a little chubby and that rip that he has can hold up? Then he can get new parts. It's just pising me off that you guys only realize the fact that they can't tailwhip and not that they might need those parts.

A dialed scooter is essential for when you are riding some wares and don't whant to be caught by security. If you're scooter not dialed they will here you

Im probably the only person that prefers their scooter to be undialed. My scooter just feels better when everything spins effortlessly

Vince Borrelli couldn't ride a dialed scooter haha. He ended up riding without compression whatsoever because he was so used to a sloppy setup.

im in this category too i'd say. my scooter has come a longgg way but still has little shakes in the headset mainly. and i don't mind it at all.

am i the only person who thought this thread was thoughts on the "dialed" scooter MAGAZINE not scooters? haha

Everything on my scooter is dialed except my bearing spacers. I don't mind when my wheels are a little loose but I hate when my brake rattles.

I make sure mine is always dialed. I wouldn't get new parts just for the sake of making it sound good. Any parts really are "dialable", you just gotta make it dialed haha.

My wheels are ALWAYS ovalised. So, That makes it always undialed. Also, I believe the tilt scs's are screwed up because i have never had a headset come loose so often as it has with this scs/fork combo.
