That is why, my friend you do not SEED / UPLOAD stuff back.
Oh so you can just be a scumbag leecher? I'd like to see you try to last on a private tracker. Theres a little program called Peer Guardian you should always run if using bittorrent, look into it.
you dont call me a scumbag and live muhahaha.

but really. I do seed some stuff, but after awhile I remove it. Happy now?

edit

thanks for showing me peerguardian brian. I have it installed now . :)
Yeah like 4 years ago i got a letter from comcast because EA notified them that i downloaded The Sims (which i only downloaded because my disk was messed up so i probably could have got out of that if they took it further) then i got another letter from them for downloading the movie Bug, both times they said they were going to take my internet away. I googled the letter and found out they send them things out like spam, so i said fuck it. Then i found out about peerguardian, i'll download a torrent and find out it was a trap by a company but peerguardian seriously blocks like everything. I love that program. Download a reallllllly hot torrent like a new moive and see how many ips that thing blocks its ridiculous.

that stuff is robbing the artists though. so there is something wrong with it. it is stealing. dur.
The record companies are robbing companies. Artists don't make shitt off of their albums. I wouldn't mind buying albums if they were between $5-10, but $20 for a CD with 2 or 3 goods songs on it is a rip off. I haven't bought music in years because of it. If i support the band, i'll goto their show and let them know.

Software prices are ridiculous. I'm not even going to get into them. Student discounts it a little more reasonable but i still won't buy programs. There is usually a free alternative to most programs anyway.

Games are a different story. I bought all of my PS2 game except for imports which i pirated. Half of the reason I pirated those games is because there wasn't a easy way to play backups until about a year ago, and i don't even play the games anymore (beatmania iidx if yoiu want to know). I pirate old PC games, but i have most of them on floppys somewhere in my house that im not gonna dig for if i can download it in 2 minutes. I don't think ill download PS3 games yet, the thing isn't even cracked yet anyway. I play online with PS3 way too much to be messing with backups already.

Movies are fucking crazy. The only time i see movies at the theater is $5 night at franklin mills. I used to watch the screeners but im over them, ill just wait for bluray rip so i can watch it on my HDTV. If the movie is good enough ill buy it, and movies usually suck these days. I wish you could buy actual film reels instead of dvds and shit, i'd be all over them. Actors get paid WAY too much to be in movies, too much money is spent on movies, fuckk movies.

my sentiments exactly.

what is peergaurdian?
A program that blocks IPs trying to connect to your computer. It updates with a list everyday of TONS of anti P2P, government, spyware and other companies trying to mess with you. It is amazing. The only thing that sucks about it, is that it blocks some IPs that aren't bad. For example, if i have peerguardian running and i open Steam (for like halflife and portal) i can't open it because it blocks the IPs, but you can just shut it off or allowed the IPs to connect.

I feel a little bad when I dl stuff from some mad independent band because I know they probably need to money. But most of the time record sales go to the record company, so I feel no remorse. There are still plenty of people buying music, so it's not a big deal.

i think piracy is wrong. but i do it cause i dont have the money to buy all my music. if there are albums that i like a lot ill go out and buy the cd.

Piracy contributes to ecology. I have tons of worthless plastic cds and boxes and I know people have even more but don't even use them cause everything is on the hard drive. Now who's gonna recycle that?

I think that the change that piracy made in music industry is that most artists profit more from concert fees than selling records. This may not apply to the big names but generally it's like that when it comes to the local scene. And I guess it's all right to share your own records for free, I do that.

As for software, I really like how open source/free software movement counteracts both piracy and the Microsoft monopoly. Why should I buy MS Office if I can pirate it, some say. But then why should I download it when I can get Open Office that's way better and free. Professional software piracy isn't a problem, I guess, if a kid downloads AutoCAD, messes with if a little and gets rid of it cause he can't use it, it's no problem, and pirating software in a real company won't work cause you always have to document where the software comes from. With games, I guess that top games with huge graphics that require lots of work shouldn't be pirated, Im as satisfied though if I play a simple yet puzzling game someone made and distributed for free. I guess that games should be 'abandonwarized' earlier so you can freely distribute them. I guess that most profit is generated when the game is new anyway.

record sales cannot be measured accurately these days. it used to be; if you wanted an album, you had to go buy it at a shop, and there was an exact count of how many albums a group sells. now, you can steal them. so in that aspect, it kinda fucked shit up. record sales of modern bands mean nothing.
