scooterflip help

Arrrrgh! I just can't take it anymore. I've been scared to death of doing scootyflips because I'm afraid It'll smack me in the head and I'll die, etc, etc. I'd prefer not to learn it the hard way so it would be great if somebody who is experienced at scooterflips could give me a few tips because I don't really know how to do them or what side to do them on, etc. that would be great.

I got myself banned.
Back or front scooterflip? Just flip them on the ground and get used to how the scooter is flipping. When you feel comfortable through it off a ramp...

And Josh how can they be over used and overrated... i could see them being over used in a video or somthing but other than that theyre the same as every other trick.

ya i wear a helmet when doing them lol, but I don't have the proper technique. Thanks every1 for the help too!

plan out and practice the rotation standing on the ground with both feet, or on one feet and kicking/catching the flip etc... I do that all the time when Im bored at home hahaha.

Pete's right. Here's what I did:

i put on my helmet and i practiced the spinning of both scooterflips till i got them in hand when standing on ground. Even though i had practiced the spinning, on the very first scooterflip attempt (front scootflip) on a flybox was a quite disaster because i managed to smash my head with it, but i wore a helmet, so i kept trying.

But i have another recent experience that i hit my lower-back with the side of the deck (yeah, "ouchies") with a briflip and i don't know why that happened.

^^^^^

I always wear a helmet, but i have hit my temple doing 180 inwards alot... helmets dont protect you from that!

bu otherwise you will be fine.

i know i sound sad when i say this but i started learning scooterflips grabbing the deck when the deck's neerest my head and throwing it the rest of the way round.... i only did that cus my gloves jammed on the grips half way round and i have to let go of the grip for a second or so

ive sliced the side of my head when my deck like skimmed across the side of my head doing bri flips, and ive had the deck whip 90 degrees and hit me square in the forehead trying 360 bri flips

i got my head glued last summer trying front scooterflips. if i wasnt wearing a hat then it would been really bad they said. i do mine frontside for some reason and can almost get them off a 4 stair high loading dock. if i had a decent ramp i probally could now.

for me it helps putting my feet alittle more off the edge of the deck, idk if that will help you or not.

thats what i do, and what do you mean" frontside for some reason" ..a lot of people do them that way, i do..but yea stand with only your toes on the deck so they can get out of the way easier

I have never hit myself doing any scooterflip
Same here.

The advice I got from Martin Kimbell was just to kick it slightly then the rest is all in your arms.
