The reason Pro Models don't have the strip...

question: how does the length compare to the old pro? Is the distance between the brake bolt and rear axle the same? Also, I saw in a picture of what I think was a tested prototype, it didn't have the fron four bolts that held the plates under the foldy. Will this be in the production model?
No changes in width or length, and the front plate is no longer there, the front of the deck also no longer requires the black plastic cap, they weld it closed with a plate of metal.
doesn't that just add extra weight?

i never thought that that strip really did anything, its the thickness of the dropouts that really counts.

and when you grind rails, or anything with metal coping on it, it doesn't wear the deck out that much does it? not enough to wear through the outside rails.
Actually, the plastic cap and the piece of welded metal's weight is about the same. So it won't add anything.
The strip, believe it or not, makes all the difference in the world. I mean the second the new Pro Models were released without the strip, all of a sudden decks are bending and snapping a lot quicker than with the strip. For the exact reason I listed below, more metal to not grind the drop outs as fast, think of it as extra added support to reduce stress.
And correct, skatepark ledges/rails doesn't grind down as much metal compared to a concrete ledge.

So josh, the new Razor Ultra Pros, are the decks thicker than the old 08 Pros? And im wondering, since the front of the frame is welded closed, is there anyway to renforce the scooter frame? Im maybe getting one when they come in stock, but i would like to renforce it to be safe cause i dont want to buy a scooter, and snap it and be sh!t out of luck.
It is thicker all around, including the drop outs. There is more metal surrounding the wheel to limit stress. Fork is gussetted, and the arms/threads are thicker. I'm highly doubting it will snap in the headtube. We have Ron Sharpe riding one right now, and it hasn't snapped yet. He is a hardcore street rider, kills huge sets. On top of that, it was produced by Billy Griggs and Bob Hadley, two hall of fame BMXers. Billy also produced about half of GT's old frames from the early to late 90's, so he knows what he is doing when it comes to design. So I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Wrong... No...
?
so you are saying that the holes in the front dont effect the strength at all?
because i believe they do. and if the front is stronger, there will be more pressure being put on the dropouts.
Once again, there is no plate, meaning no holes. No stress points.

About the regulars and "Lo" models:
i'm pretty sure that lots of parents will order their little kids the lo-versions, avarage Joes aswell since they probably don't want to cut any tubes themselves. So I don't see Lo-models getting out of market any time soon.

Exactly what I told Ali when I saw the sales sheet for both models. But Razor wants to experiment to see which will sell more. And considering I'm sure 3/4 the scene runs wider than stock, they will go for the Regular model. I'd just recommend a diamond bladed pipe cutter, unless you have the necessary power tools.

well if they discontinue the regular pro this will kinda F**k Dominator scooters cause im pretty sure there deck savers only fit pros, same with other companies that make deckreinforcements for the pro. Now im probly gonna buy a TSI deck since im not likn the looks of the ultra pro deck.

Correction:

3/4ths of the active members of SR rides wider than stock.
In the real world, only about a half have ANY after market parts at all.

thats what josh said but on recent pictures it shows the normal ultra pro as 18 wide and the "Lo" Ultra Pro as only 14 wide

in my opinion they should both have 18 wide and they should sell extra small bars (14 wide) and extra large bars (24 wide) as aftermarket :)

The decksavers still fit on the deck, only thing is, you may have to drill a hole in the front somewhere the bolt won't go through the headtube.

Sorry for the double post, accidentally replied instead of modify on my last post...

Would Hang 5's be harder?
Nope, Jon Reyes and Dan Barrett were worried about that too, but once they tried, there was no problem.

I thought they were the same width, like 18 or something
Yeah, Razor decided to try their luck with two different hieghts/widths to create more options. I was hoping for 21 high by 18 wide though considering most riders prefer that size.

Josh do you know what the headtube angle is on the ultra pro? Is it the same as a bolted pro model?
Same angle.
