The value of life..

Beware, wall of writing.

I hate how modern society doesn't understand the value of life.
There are people out there with severe mental disabilities, or disorders, that live life to the fullest of their capabilities, and there are people that are down on life because they want attention...
Here's something i've sourced + a story of my own.

Mentally disabled people are among the happiest beings in the world.
They can NEVER live a full life, like a normal, healthy person, but are still positive and outgoing.
Whereas, there are healthy people, commonly known as attention seeking emotionals, that live their lives with a low self esteem, when they COULD be living life to its maximum potential, but don't, they chose to live in sorrow and anguish, rather than happiness and bliss.
Mentally disabled are the biggest inspirations of all, they give everyone something to smile about, even in the darkest times, and are the most optimistic of all beings.

My story -
This is possibly the most disturbing thing that has EVER happened to me, i wouldn't wish it on anyone in the world, and i feel dirtied just to have been there when it was occuring.

About half a year ago, i was at a caravan park, with a mate's family + their family friends. The family friends have a daughter, around 3 or 4 years old, and has been diagnosed with down syndrome. She is possibly my favorite person in the world, she manages to put a smile on my face whenever i am around her, and she inspires me to live my life to the fullest.
The caravan park is a close-knit community, and everone knows who she is, and loves her, and looks after her as if she's their own.
We would take walks every morning, down the the waterfront, and play on swings and in the sandpit, she'd laugh and play in a state of ignorant bliss, unawares of the world around her.
But one morning we let her go without the aid of anyone, she could walk around the park by herself, as people knew her, and would take care, and look out for her.
It had been 15 minutes, and she was yet to return, i went to check on her, walking towards the sandpit, i heard laughing, older, males.
I saw her, surrounded by 3 teenage males, aged between 13-16, they were throwing sand at her and laughing, i immediately started running towards her yelling at the boys, "Fuckk off you heartless cunts!", they heard and swung their heads and looked at me, running towards them, increasing pace, and immediately replied, "What!? its just a little fun!", and started walking away.
I got to her, she was covered in sand, and crying, we started to walk back to the caravan and get her to safety.
Safe to say, the boys and their family where kicked out of the caravan park within 15 minutes of the incident, and recieved a life ban.

What society do we live in when a 4 year old girl with down syndrome can't play by herself without being patronised?

Discuss.

yeah mate i know what your talking about. whenever i go into the city its like no one seems to look out for one another.

coming from a semi close knit community, population probably like... 6,000. everyone sort of looks out for each other here. last time i went up to melbourne on the train theres was an old lady trying to carry up a big luggage case but couldn't do it, well was going superrrr slow. and had about 5 guys in there 20's just standing behind her giving her greasy looks. so i ran up and carried her bag for her. was pretty shocked to see no one would even give a simple helping hand.

your right Jake its just a simple task to offer her some help but some people just like to give people grief and give that stupid look like hurry up.

Yeah.
I love the feeling of actually helping someone, and the look you get afterwards..
If you take less than 15 seconds of your time to bend down, pick something up and hand it to its owner, is that such an inconveniance?
Are you going to be 15 seconds late to your work and get fired?
I think not...
Its the little things people notice in life that make you a better person..

Don't worry. The one of the most universal laws of the society is 'There will always be some idiot to come and fuck everything up'. And you can't change it. You can only be careful about idiots in your life and beware not to become one.

What is even more tragic I guess is what happens here in Poland, about once a two weeks the news report some kind of poor family beating a newborn baby, either causing heavy injuries or death. Yesterday someone just threw a baby through a window of a 4th story, it's crazy. How is it possible to be so cruel?

I really dis like people like that, who get a kick out of making fun of someone with a mental disability.
Like 2 days ago at pecos there was this midget guy and when he came into the park, I heard like 5 people start talking crap. I wanted to turn around a say "at least he's out here trying to live his life to the fullest and enjoy it, but he can't do that because he's probably worried of scum like you who make fun of him" but i didn't want to case a scene.

So true.

That story is fucked up though, what would drive someone to do something like that is just completely beyond me.

And yeah, the thing about people with downsyndrome, etc. being happy all the time is 100% true and scientifically proven, but I guess it could also be looked at as natures way of helping people like that cope with the world around them, and protect them from all the ignorant fucks in the world who try to take out all their problems on others.

wow. if i was you once i saw those kids throwing sand at her i would of seriously just beat the fuck out of them all and not even cared. thats so messed up to do that to someone, especially in the condition the little girl was in. im sorry you had to witness that =(

I didn't put this into the story..
But i was ready to go tbh..
There was 3 of them, 2 of them being really big, who work out and what-not.
But i was pumped to hit them, i swear to god.
Its dissapointing to see anything like that happen tbh.

Thanks for the positives guys, lets keep it that way.

shits fucked up, good thing you were there, but i dont think its smart to leave someone like that alone, even tho she has a lot of people to look after her. sadly, i would have gotten her away from them, back to her family, and then done whatever i could to bring those kids close to death lol no one should be throwing sand at ANY 4 year old.

Mentally disabled people are awesome.
One of my best friends has Autism, and he is so chill.
Always happy, when a teacher tells him off he goes "Oh be quiet you silly billy".
He's a big kid and he has those big rosy cheeks, he's just so gnar.

You just completely contradicted yourself.
The value of life is in relation to how we value our own lives, or our time here, and how we value every other being's lives.
So if you didn't care, you wouldn't think about the kids who did it being put to death :)
