welding in the houston area-EDITED PRICES

ADNpro

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEVES
Those prices are still way to much for such a small weld.

if you're going to MIG weld aluminum you need: (not specifically scooter stuff)

pure argon
spool gun
.035 wire (kinks less)

also it is recommended that you use TIG for thinner aluminum and MIG for thicker. I just read that online.

wow i also read online that you can click here and win a plazma tv....

it takes the guy about an hour to perfect the welds with a grinder, overlap the welds, and repeat. he doesn't call it done 'till he's sure it won't break.ever.

tristan-the welds can break, so it is best to weld and bolt.

andrew- its a mig
Few things... you should not have to grind or overlap the welds and you sure as hell shouldn't have to bolt it still after it's welded. One solid pass with good heat and deep penetration should be more than enough to hold that thing strong forever which is one of the main reasons why MIGing a scooter is kind of sketchy because it is a lot harder to control your heat and penetration. Also, it should only take about 5 minutes to weld a foldy not an hour especially with a MIG.

Sorry if I'm bursting your bubble... it is a good idea but you definitely need to perfect the process.
