excactly same happened with me
but don't have any spare money to buy new one so i shortened my chain and now i have only one gear
sad is that bike costs about 1600 usd :S

haha it broke cause I was trying to get the brake out of the deck but it was kinda stuck so I started hammering it from the back and after like 3 blows it just snapped.
