Definitely go with the Samyang. There's a bunch of different companies that sell the exact same lenses, it just seems as if Samyang's quality control is the best. There's more chance of buying a dud if you buy a pelang or something similar. I was really confused by that dude's remark too...

Damn dude. Do you have the Samyang 8mm f/2.8 mk II? And What camera are you using it on? I've used it a few times on a Fuji X-E1 and it's sharp at f/2.8 corner to corner. Easily the nicest fisheye I've used.

If you can afford it a larger aperture will always come in handy. It's a whole extra stop of light that the lens will let in. If it only comes in handy once or twice then it was worth the extra money. Larger aperture glass tends to be more precise, and therefore better image quality. I...

The Rokinon 8mm f/2.8 would be my pick. The aperture is slightly wider (f/2.8 compared to f/3.5) so you can shoot in lower light. edit - never mind it doesn't seem they did a f/2.8 for DSLRs.... From what I've seen the 8mm tends to look nicer than the 6.5mm anyway.

4chan / Reddit are sweet if you know how to use them. The popular boards are terrible. The more niche / location ones usually have good communities and discussions.
