Alright, I'm not trying to be like, the all knowing kinda guy or anything, especially since I'm new to the sport and to the forums, but I've been skating and in the whole "action sports" scene for a long time.
It's fair to compare rollerblading to scootering as far as we get the short end of the stick in popularity and respect. Rollerblading is a much larger sport and has more respect than scootering, which is...unfortunate.
As you know, rollerblading was in the X-games. Let's analyze this...
While other sports were just toying around with backflips and backflips tricks, rollerblading was doing 540 spins with flips, double flips, launchless flips, etc.
The two top vert riders were brothers and would come down to them in the end for gold and silver.
One vert rider claimed double backflip, and if he landed it would have assured a gold medal. While he bailed it twice, out of nowhere another rider had learned them and threw it and landed it.
All of this excitement and storylines and progression going on.
And rollerblading is no longer in the X-Games. Maybe it was because the tricks were "too complex". When fans see a flip and spin and everyone goes wild, and then see another flip and spin but everyone goes beserk cuz the tricks never been done before, they feel out of place. They can't tell the subtle difference between the tricks, and feel like they're missing out on the excitement. Maybe scootering is like this too. A handful of tricks are easy to tell apart, 1080, double back, etc. But can the general public tell the difference between a bri-flip tailwhip and a bri-flip heelwhip? Now imagine when trying to figure out the difference between backflip combos that haven't been done yet.
Not demeaning the tricks or anything, just saying maybe right now, it's too hard to follow. Rollerblading is a lot bigger, and they aren't even in the X-games anymore. So just chill, ride hard, and whatever happens happens.
