I searched this site, and Google too, but I couldn't really find anything, so please don't get angry that I started a thread :confused:

From what I could find, the general consensus is that Aluminum Forks WILL break much sooner than Steel Forks. Okay, I can fathom that. I was about to pull the trigger on some Lucky SMX forks (because they look so dope!), but at the last minute decided to go with some PROTO Seniors - because they're Steel (is real). Does anyone know if they're "Hi-Tensile Steel" or a cool blend of Chromoly?

Now, does anyone make a steel deck? I'm a bigger dude, so weight really doesn't bother me... I want it to be hardcore and strong as can be - so steel would be pretty titties. I'm thinking about chopping off a 1 1/8" headtube from an old bicycle and welding something up... if I can't find any factory decks made from steel.

So, just wanna hear all you all's thoughts on materials. What would your dream scoot be?

seniors are chromoly and ive seen a chromoly deck btw cant remember brand b and m ,or b and n something like that
and my choice id go chromoly bars decks and forks

and no titanium is a very flexible metal bikers that have ridden ti frames say they feel like cheese and are weak plus it would be hella expensive

Welding makes weak points in decks. If you want a strong deck, you could try a proto. I know nobody has tested it long enough, but they used the on on the mega ramp on nitro circus and that held up good.

lol no its not.

i guess if you're a really big dude then tsi decks would feel nice but too me they are way too heavy and feel really awkward.

a good 4130 deck that doesnt weigh too much would be sick though. there were a few steal decks but i dont think any ever made it into production.

Yeah, I'm like 200 pounds. Man, if someone started making titanium and 4130 decks, they'd rule the market for a while. Too bad I suck at welding... I mean, I'll weld one up for myself, but I'd need to get a lot better before I could sell my handiwork. Damn - do I just get an aluminum deck, or spend like thirty hours cutting and welding and grinding some custom trainwreck that might be stupid when it's finished...

id say get an orion just because it seams like it would be a good deck. it could be the strongest deck on the market, no one really knows but its probably your best bet. and i heard its pretty heavy so for bigger riders it would probably feel really good. murphy loves it lol.

Not really, for its weight aluminum is stronger than chromoly with a good design. Even though chromoly is stronger in general, it's also heavier. If you had a choice between two parts, both equal in strength, yet one was lighter than the other, MOST people would pick the lighter one. If you want something heavy, and strong, get a TSI or a Lucky. If you want something light, get a phoenix. I wouldn't recommend an ultra pro or district since you said you're a bigger dude. SenioR forks are 4130 chromoly.

Zero gravity decks are strong as hell too, and theyre like 3.5 lbs, pretty light. And if the deck breaks you can take off the headtube and just buy another deck without a headtube
No welds either, so no weak points.

Phoenix decks are pretty much the best, in my opinion at least. It'll definitely hold for you man. Some of the best riders in the world ride them. Also, you might wanna look into MGP Nitros.. Even though they cost a bit more. And the nice thing about TSI decks is that you can get/make custom deck plates that are wider than 5".

Are they even available yet? They look beast as hell, and stylish too. I thank you all for the suggestions. I think I will get a "real" deck, and in my spare time work on some crazy creation, like Justin Vogelsberger said.

I'm sold on the PROTO Senior Fork though, but The Scooter Depot only has yellow in stock, I guess I could paint it if I run out of patience...

I don't know about spending that kind of cash on the first run of a new design (PROTO / ORION TDI UBS). I like to wait and see how the people will review them. Some real-world feedback. Unless it had some sick warrantee or something.

I'd definitely get a TSI, or Lucky, Both are heavy.
I'd steer away from Zero Gravity. Expensive.
