What??? No!! The last thing you want to do is "stick weld" (SMAW) your broken aluminum bars. Have you ever used aluminum welding rod?? Its terrible shit and should only be used as a very last resort on non-critical welding applications. Even aluminum MIG (GMAW) is not a very good choice for welding something like scooter bars.
Your only option for welding broken aluminum scooter bars is to TIG (GTAW) weld them... and even then, I would just suggest getting new bars.

if you could get bars welded for free, go for it but otherwise as this guy said it probably wont be cost effective and the sudden snap could be dangerous, especially if you had a tomk style fall. also mr.h knows his stuff about bars. possibly the best in the game (havent seen one snap)

Yah, exactly. If you have to pay then don't do it but you may as well if its free.

I mean its do-able but it would look so shitty. Best bet is tig because most parts are relatively small. And I do believe some decks are machine mig. Mig is the fastest/easiest way to weld something. If your looking for something extremely fine or little than its tig.
Really thick metal or like welding in huge gaps and or holes would be stick/arc.

decks are derfinitely not mig. cuz theyre made of aluminum. only thing strong enough to weld it is tig

Even if he got a tig welder isn't it really hard and takes a lot of practiceto get a nice weld on aluminum? I never used a tig or welded aluminum yet but I know even my medal shop teacher still isn't great at welding aluminum.

I've welded chromoly and aluminum with my tig, I was being sarcastic because if you have to ask others if you should weld your bars then you probably shouldn't do it.

He didn't say he was going to weld them- he asked if welding the Crack was a good idea.

It is a very good idea to ask this question. He has received some very good advice and also sarcastic remarks about Stick welding it

I've never seen a qualified boilermaker welder use a stick welder off site before.
