Bikes

Yeah so, there an alternative sport section, that doesnt have a dedicated bmx thread and hardly anyone goes there. I'm getting a bike for my birthday ( I still have to pay half or like 200 dollars or something) and my birthday is reeeaaallll soon. SO I NEED TO KNOW QUICK!

I've been riding my friends eastern metalhead 07 (i always had a mongoose and i asked him if i could borrow his to try to learn some stuff) and it weighs 30 pounds. I figured out 180 to fakie to out in about 5 days on it, so im not to worried about weight.

Good recommendation starter bikes? I'm keeping it mostly stock. Will chip a little bit of money, nothing past 450 i dont think. Brands? Types of chromo? Like hows there's weird shit like Japanese chromo

Buy it from my bikeshop or buy it from danscomp? ehhh??? HOW CAN YOU RECOGNIZE GOOD PARTS?

Finally, why straight cables? Why a straight cable and not a gyro? And an untwister? how the fuck does that work?

I would recommend black eye, eastern, verde, fit. And buy from Danscomp.

^^^

Some people dont like Eastern because they used to have a history with a lot of cheap parts.
Danscomp is probably your best bet.

Gyros are made for tailwhips and barspins. If you dont already know how to do these I would just get a straight cable. Then if you want to keep progressing you can get a nice gyro or go brakeless.

Also try to get as much chromoly as possible.

im kinda worried about buying from danscomp in the sense that I don't get to test the bike out at all, and I have to assemble it myself, which will always be in the back of my head. IF IT ALREADY COMES WITH A GYRO... should I keep it? I want to learn barspins, and I think its possible, as hard as it will be. Whips are way out of the picture though.

Give me some links guys. Or more brands and models.
We The People is looking good for the price, maybe not a bad idea to get one? Or should I honestly invest in a Fit?

I watched an eastern frame snap in half yesterday, don't get one, honestly just build up a bike fuck completes.

I don't plan on getting an eastern, thats just what my friend's bike was. 2 of these bikes were recommended to me on a bike forum.

bit over my budget, but they said they are definitely worth it because the frames are 4130 chromo and not high-tensile steel, and they have sealed hubs which will last way longer and less likely to get messed up. They said i'd end up saving more money in the long-run and it'd probably even be safer to ride.
