compression.

i recently ordered an inward fork with inward compression. im pretty sure i understand the compression. i just want some reassurance from others who know about it. my view on it is that you install the starnut into the bars. then you stick the bolt in through the hole at the bottom of the fork and it screws into the starnut, right? and also how far should i put the starnut in? i really dont wanna waste my money. thanks

Put the starnut In like 3 inchs and befire u screw on the bolt make sure ur clamp is not tightend after u tighten ur compression tighten ur clamp

If you bend a starnut while installing, and chances are you will to at least one. I believe you can buy new ones from Home Depot or any hardware store.

Be sure not to put it too far into the bars. Because if you do, you will need to buy another starnut, and you cannot take out the one you messed up on.

Pretty much try to judge it. Put the fork/headtube/bars togeather, then put the head of the bolt up to the bottom of the fork and mark off where you think you need to hammer the starnut up to on the bars by the threads on the bolt. You want it around the middle of the threads.

i got an HIC and it was such a miserable experience to deal with because you have to take off your front wheel every time you want to tighten/loosen it so make sure you DONT get one of those. i got it today and already hate it.

back to subject i used the little cap and placed it into the bars so it acted as a guide and i just hammered the bolt in after i screwed it in a little to the starnut

i put my first starnut in too far and so i had to put the other one it came with in and now they are basically sandwiched so if i could get a bolt with longer threads i could have a double nut.

You have to do that with any compression system other than the knuckles.

rad hic shim compression. And vnc compression. Seriously though brian quit being a baby, buy some threadlock.

idk why all of you do it the hard way haha.

i screw the compression bolt into the starnut, then hammer the starnut in slowly hammering on top of the compression bolt, SOOOOO easy.
