Dyeing Wheels Fail

So i tried dyeing wheels, and they failed. I used the liquid RIT dye. Boiled a bunch of water, put it in a bucket, put the WHOLE can of liquid dye in, about a gallon of water. Put the wheels in, left overnight. Woke up and pulled the wheels out, and they were army green. Rode for about an hour and i could already see the white urethane underneath the color.

I just bought the poweder dye, how exactly can i make it work better?

Yes, i read the sticky, but wanted more personal experience. Thanks

i had white wheels and i dyed them black with the powder and it worked great you might of used too much water or something my water was 1/2 inch over my wheels

keep them on the stove for longer, also dilute the die with less water, mix only when heated.

I leave them in a few hours, and I reheat the dye every hour or so. And I usually use just half of the pack, and as little water in the pot as I can with it still covering the wheels.

My frend has same problem with brand new sliders. New wheels have some kind of lac top of the urethane too. When we redyed wheels, it works. If you have some lac on these, use sandpaper to take it off. OR ride them a while, then redye. :D

I did notice the clear lac coating on top, but i wondered why it didnt soak into the part that was already ridden on, anyways, the wheels chunked so im waiting to hear back on new ones ...

I tend to have problems dying wheels that the side that is lying on the bottom of the pan will sometimes not dye completely.
