Don't lift the deck up too high only take it to about mid shin level then you reach down and slap it.

reach down half and lift up half.
spread your legs.
commit.
dont worry about putting your other hand on, it will happen naturally.

having a boxed deck helps but not vital.
keep it right underneath you, dont push the scooter out in front.

Yeah like what ashley said. Keep the deck between your legs. I always mess around with them and whenever i land them i just actually think about keeping it between my legs and under me

you want to hit the deck with your palm and not really hit it, kinds push it and push it hard. it hurts less when you use your palm to do it rather than your fingers

Dont learn them flat because im almost 100% you wont just learn it strait flat. Learn flyout or kicker. What i do is as soon as you leave the kicker or quarter, you spread your legs, pick up the deck to right below your knee, slap it, put your hand back on, and land it. If you reach down its really gonna fuck you up. Only put your hand down to slap it.

Thanks guys, is it better to get the motion dialed?, like just walk with your scoot and just fingerwhip, like how i learned tailwhips?

Hey, since you made the tutorial and are pretty good at them, did you ever practice the motion just standing on the ground repeatedly? Curious to see what you thought about doing that, if it would help or whatever.

Yes that would help with the motion of fingerwhips, exactly how i learned them.
Just try and practice on the ground and be able to hit the deck then kinda whip it around with 1 hand till you put your other hand back on.
Keep doing that and you'll have it in no time.

-Hit it with the part of your hand where your finger meets your palm.
-Easier on boxed decks, but like ashley said it's not nessesary.
-Try them a lot, if you arent having any success, STOP trying them, and try them like a week or two later. I know its hard but I was trying them and couldnt land them, and I forgot about them, and a month later some kid was like "Can you fingerwhip" and I was like IDK... got it first try haha.
-Once you get them, do them EVERYWHERE. Flyout, big banks, smaller banks, into banks, flat, off drops, sets, transfers.
-Practice catching them, it makes doing them fast or down sets WAY less scary. I ate it once on a 5 stair because I overspun the whip.

I've fingerwhipped a 4 flat 4, just so you know, I am actually good at this trick.

Same thing happened to me, and now i can almost get them off a curb.

Almost landed one today, only one foot, i'm afraid of landing on both and hurting my heels or tipping over, because i'm learning off of banks and there is a p box to the right and it is very sharp. any tips to get over fear?
