you want to hit the deck with your palm and not really hit it, kinds push it and push it hard. it hurts less when you use your palm to do it rather than your fingers
lol wut??^^ dont use the tip of your finger, but not your palm. dont bring it to high, no matter what keep the deck under you dont let it get infront.
Ashley has the right idea.
I made a tutorial on fingerwhips last year which should help you.

Hey, since you made the tutorial and are pretty good at them, did you ever practice the motion just standing on the ground repeatedly? Curious to see what you thought about doing that, if it would help or whatever.
-Hit it with the part of your hand where your finger meets your palm.
-Easier on boxed decks, but like ashley said it's not nessesary.
-Try them a lot, if you arent having any success, STOP trying them, and try them like a week or two later. I know its hard but I was trying them and couldnt land them, and I forgot about them, and a month later some kid was like "Can you fingerwhip" and I was like IDK... got it first try haha.
-Once you get them, do them EVERYWHERE. Flyout, big banks, smaller banks, into banks, flat, off drops, sets, transfers.
-Practice catching them, it makes doing them fast or down sets WAY less scary. I ate it once on a 5 stair because I overspun the whip.
I've fingerwhipped a 4 flat 4, just so you know, I am actually good at this trick.
oh well everyone has there ways of doing something, for me its easier to use the middle of my fingers.idunno thats how i do them and im comfortable with it
