How has riding a scooter impacted your life?

Its a neat thread with a real point and i commend you for that, and congratulate you for your accomplishments, both in life and scootering. Im from Vermont and your damn right its hands down the most beautiful state. Try it in a week or so while the foliage is super bright.

I guess everyone's basically saying the same thing on this one. I think scootering, like skateboarding and biking is something that can quickly become more then a hobby, and sort of transcend into an obsession. And an obsession will change your life fast, no doubt.

Something like this i think goes hand in hand with a curtain lifestyle, so i think that like a lot of young skaters some of the riders have become, literally, a different person because they have found something like this that they ACTUALLY CAN DO WELL. Thats another point here... I think scootering is much easier to pick up, or at least do simple shit on, then skateboarding and biking, so you get alot of these young kids who are trying to find a scene like this to totally throw them self at in every way.

For me though, scootering has given my dream. You know when your young you always here that bull shit about have dreams and set goals... It doesnt matter until you get into the suck, but once your there, having something to dream IS CRUCIAL. I have a nice place, a beautiful girl and son... But work sucks so much and there's so much responsibility as far as money and where my time needs to go, having something to think about while i go to sleep and once common goal in the back of your mind at all times helps you to stay grounded, and keeps you from going over to the deep end and hitting your head ya know? To me, that goal would be being able to scooter or something very scooter related as a full time job, and obviously with that comes the dream of taking my riding game to the next level and riding with a pro team. But after 8 years of riding, that dream hasnt changed from day one, and i know it wont until i at least can move out to SD and fuck around for 4 or 5 years and just focus on my riding. And i wont settle until i do that. If i take 5 years and i still haven't been able to do shit, then fine...ill try some other shit, but i know ill always ride. But yeah..scootering has entirely changed the direction of my life, and given me a goal and a real reason to live and something tangible to shoot for.

how have scooters impacted my life? well...

i haven't gained any new friends because of it. rather i've probably lost some.
i haven't gone anywhere special because of it.
it hasn't shone light on a career path for me.

however, i think i've learned some things about computers, editing, cameras, and of course modding scooters. oh, and 50 bucks a month :)

Super queer.
Deff has. I've met some cool people gone some cool places had some real fun. Everyone aorund here knwos me as the scooter kid so whether they like me or don't. I'm still in they're head. :)

Without Kevin Vannauker I wouldnt be this happy in my life. Scootering has shown me as little as riding flat all day when I have nothing to do by myself which takes away from my boredom, all the way to getting to Cali almost for free just to ride and I can't say which time I had more fun. I have no idea what I would be doing if I never met Kevin

like john, I started to not give a flying fuck about what other people think about me.

Plus, without riding, I would probably be a pale little bitch sitting in front of the computer playing video games all day like my little bro..

I don't really know where to start with this..

Scootering has been a huge part of me for almost half of my life. I've made SOOOOOO many new friends & acquaintances through scootering, and it's kept me in shape throughout. I owe my current relationship to scootering. Scootering has given me the opportunity to travel all over the place just to do something i love.. I'm really grateful for that because my family doesn't travel often.

4 years ago, I never thought that scootering would've gotten me this far. I think it's the coolest thing ever when kids come up to me and are all like OMG YOU'RE THE BEST or like OMG I SAW YOU ON YOUTUBE CAN I BE ON SCOOYORK etc., etc.

I never thought all of this would ever happen, and it's nice to be known by alot of people in multiple countries.. but i guess i owe that more to this website than scootering itsself.

basically, Scootering has been my main outlet for everything. whenever I'm pissed ill go out and ride, and it'll clear my head. Scootering has hardened my morals, and helped my self discipline. its encouraged me to push myself to my limits, and to test what i physically can and cant do. I owe so much to scootering, and i'm grateful for everything it's done for me.

<3 scooters.

1. Scooter is the best form of transportation, here in St.Petersburg. Cheaper and easier to take care of that bike, faster and more convenient than roller blades or skateboard. If I have somewhere to go quickly - I use my scooter.
2. Also it keeps me in a good physical shape.
3. As the best rider in the country I have a lot of "pupils". I like teaching how to ride, seriously. It is such a pleasure - to know that the young generation of kids doing interesting and uniqe sports instead of sitting in front of the computer all day long or drinking alcohol in the yard.
4. I've been on TV twice, have a couple of interviews on local websites. So yeah, I am a local superstar. All the skaters/bikers around know who is "that-guy-with-a-scooter" and what he can do.
5. I've learned a lot about filming/editing/photography
6. I may get sponsorship soon, so it'd be nice to do my favourite hobby and recieve free t-shirts and shoes for it
7. I made a lot of aquintances, here on SR and in my real life
As you can see, scooters defined some major aspects of my life and just made me much more happier than I could be
