Making a longer fork

This is applies to people with Rad bars, and maybe SS bars too.

For Rad bars everyone knows that you need a long fork for them to stay on, but what if you don't have one? I've come up with a simple solution that works well.

First you need a reinforced fork, and for Rad bars you can have the old t-tube as long as you want, and you'll want at least 4-5 inches of t-tube exposed above the fork, like so:

Then you'll need to have a hacksaw/Dremel, and cut off the extra threads from an old broken fork, and/or the part that broke off the fork. Cut a slit down this pieces (or pieces) so that when the fork clamps tighten down they'll get smaller and clamp down on the reinforced part. It'll look like this:

Then just slide those down onto the reinforced fork and you're good to go, like this:

This works, because with my old Rad bars I had this set up and they NEVER slipped, you might not need to put two pieces like I did, I think one would work fine, but the more the merrier.

Edit: Post 1234 haha.

because of the extra forktube pieces aren't connected to the real fork - it's still weak and may slip.

I got myself banned.
It give the bars somthing to tighten themselves around though, and than the slit in the fork tightens up so it cant move so it most likely wont slip Madis. Good find.

Exactly.

Madis, that's what I thought when I was thinking of how to make this, so I cut the slit in the pieces, problem solved.

good idea dude thats sick i'll deff start doing this when i run out my forks.and i've been reinforcing mine wit t tubes as well but not making it longer.very nice find!

Yeah I just use this for extra clamping power, I don't have any broken forks as of now (hopefully not for a while) but you guys can try if you want. I'm thinking what Madis is thinking, that it will slip, but you never know. Just tighten those clamps down like a mother.

haha i did this like 3 months ago. :)
make sure you ahve the little black cap in the bottom of the fork, otherwise the reinforcement just falls threw and hits your wheel. its kinda annoying.
