Metal Ski Scooter

Built this with my friend today...

Metal Ski Scooter vol.1:
- last year's steel skis
- chopped new-A deck (an inch or 1.5 shorter now)
- reinforced double-plate folding mechanism
- bolted foldy
- AHEADSET nice and too fast threaded headset
- old-A steeringtube
- pro-model T-tube (no bolts, no new grips, no mods)
- ducktape on the nose of the back ski (avoids smashing the deck)

Runs great, really fast and smooth. Its quite heavy for tailwhips, but still i can do them after a little warming up after not riding for 2 weeks.
I went to a big-air kicker, got some nice speed and i fell a lot of times, no pads no helmet - it was quite scary to ride down a 45-degree steep mountain without any protection. Soon i'll land the big-air gap (15-16ft from kicker to landing ditch), today, 1st time on a ski scooter, i got only 12ft.

Upcoming double-nose (for fakies) skis are still in manufacturing. They had to come out day before christmas but now there are some problems...

Nice, I have a back ski made of a piece of aluminium and a crap ski. It uses the back wheel and brake pins. No front ski thogh, lol, I used to put plastic ones but they all broke, I need to make another aluminium one...
A regular griptape is shit when it comes to riding on snow, I think you should make a rubber based one (i just use a double sided duct tape, lol).

Edit: maybe you would like to sell them if you get the double nose ones? lol

Fuck that, shipping prices probably suck real bad, the only place that has them near the US is Canada and theres no price on them on that site anywhere that i could find.

I just bought a "Sno-Jack"... definatly not as cool looking as your snow scooter, but it could be fun. I havn't tried it yet though.
Which would you guys recomend for the slopes... a "snow scoot" or a "sno-jack"?

yea, the regular griptape collects a little snow on it, but it still remains a lil grippy also. Me and my friend came on an idea to glue on a doormat OR take the regular griptape off the deck (so the snow doesn't stay on the deck but it will be splippy though). I know that swowskates have some rubber-griptape on the deck, so we are keeping our eyes open and look for something like that.

I won't sell those skis, those are the prototypes and need some working - that's why we are working out ver2 (double-nose) skis which will be better than the ones i'm riding now. So if you want them, then my friend will make them more. (he hasn't calculated yet, how much a pair will cost).

i was rideing in the winter and was in the middle of the turning llane in the midle of winter and my shoe had snow witch stayed on my grip then i did a tail whip then fell .. the lesson from this is to not use grip tape with snow ..

no, not random really... "friik" is in estonian language "freak". so i put 4 i-s. that's not the topic haha :D

Yesterday (27 dec) i tried to fly over the gap again, now my knee is swollen (i didn't wear any knee pads, that sucks). All because of this:
http://madis.toukeratas.com/klipid/day2attempt1.wmv
I hit my right knee to the kneebasher, and i can't understand/remeber where i hit my left knee which is swollen.

(Damn friend ruined the second attempt's clip, when i flew further and crashed funnier.)

Snowboarders said that i should start 6 ft higher but there's a little mound that i'm afraid to fall right after starting to ride down the mountain... Now i'm heeling a little and see what i can do with it...
But i still want to clear the gap, no second thoughts...

Nice try, I think you need way more speed tho, cause you have definately not enough air .

and not enough snow... if it would snow more than the kicker will be built higher... and yea, the lack of speed...

you will get that shit. dank snow skoot though. I was thinking of making some skoot skis out of some snow blades I think they would work better.
