PETITION! Santa Monica Skatepark!!!

Snow Patrol said:
hey T-Mizz, i had the same prob at my park...

petitions dont do crap, srry, but if you want to get them allowed.....

you can only use tax paying citizens of Santa Monica for petitions, presentations, and speeches.

and scooters arent insured by the city for use of parks

and what you want to do is get some sources of parks that allow scooters, but there arent very many..

what we did was to present the facts of riding scooters in the streets, vs. riding in a park. we told them it is much safer to ride in a park, since there is a big risk of getting hit by a car etc.

so it turned out to where we can scooter untill january first, in a trial basis..

they will allow us to ride for a set amount of time, then they will see what has happened since they let scooters in the park, and judge whether they should allow scoots.

so you might try that option, and have Santa monica city call contact Diamond Bar city hall.

that should get you in 8)
citizen[/u] of santa monica :?

Yeah i guess you're right... but thanks for all the support. I got in contact with the lady who is in charge of the rules and stuff and she gave me the number to this risk and safety officer guy. I am gonna call him up tommorow and bust it all out.
As far as reasons why they dont let scooters in, none of the reasons they gave me made much sense. They kept saying that our scooters weren't "strong enough" to handle the terrain so I countered with showing them my bolted, double clamped, reinforced old-a. I know it can still break but its just as strong, if not stronger than, a wooden skate board. On top of that I had seen a kid on a WalMart skateboard with plastic trucks riding the park earlier that day... I found that kind of insulting...
Since the park is staffed and they already check for pads, I think they could let scooters in if they have the necessary modifications to make them "strong enough to handle their extreme terrain". I mean why not?
I am still gonna show the lady this petition though... it might help a little.

Good Job man......

I'll see if i can ride with you in a few weeks since youre so cool now! :)

and Snow Patrol = John radtke....hehe

but either is just fine %-6

they want to know why they should let us in...

-We have better control, and our scooters dont fly 10,000 feet when we eat it.

-it is a bigger danger when we ride in the streets vs park (big risk of getting hit by a car)

-It is a youth activity that will keep us away from drugs (that's major point against them)

-other parks like Real ride, and some of coronas are allowing scooters, and Diamond bar is currently on a trail basis untill feb. 5 to let them in.

some good facts for you T-MIZZ....definately use them on the evil scooter hating lady.

I got myself banned.
If theyre saying your scooter isnt strong enough, tell them it dosnt say made from aircraft grade aluminum for nothing...
