PROTO scooters

PROTO Scooters: Update Page 107

i really didn't wanna get involved, however I just wanted to point this out

The new PROTO Striker forks are truly a work of art. Laser cut, CNC machined and professionally TIG welded, these forks are ready for whatever you can throw at them! After over 2 years in development with some of the hardest riders in the sport testing, these forks have set the bar for freestlyle fork design.

i dont have a striker nor do i feel like fighting in this thread, but as i said. i thought it should be pointed out . kthnx

Hey man, lay off of Tom's back. Now your just offending him, saying his riding is sketchy.
There is no need to pick fun at his riding style just becuase he broke a part. Proto says there
forks are really good. Sketchy riding or not they should live up to there name. Razor doesn't
market there decks as "Indestructible". They are CHEAP, so it isn't hard to replace. When you
pay 70+ for a fork you want your money's worth. Its easy to say that you wouldn't want a
replacement but your not in his shoes. I think the boy NEEDS and DESERVES a replacement.

Tom, Andrew is moving in a new shop so maybe just don't bother him as much until he is done
moving in. Then send him an email with some pictures about your fork.
There is no way the thing is gonna bend from him jumping a stair set. The scooter had to be thrown, dropped on the front wheel, or something. Even if it did bend when he jumped the set, something had to contribute to that bend before hand. Look at a proto fork, then a razor fork, tell me how that beasty ass fork is gonna bend from that, when a razor fork holds up just fine.

And just to top it off, WHY REPLACE SOMETHING THAT ISN'T BROKEN? Jeez if i was in Andrew shoes, i would say im not replacing it, send it in, ill bend the thing back for you. Instead, save money and just bend the god damn thing back your self and quit whining. No one wants to hear it. It will be as good as new, but instead your letting it sit and goto waste.

I understand Brian about the bending but maybe Proto shouldn't be hyping up there products
like they do. Even if he threw the scooter down it SHOULD hold up even to some degree.
They shouldn't even be bending in the first place! I understand EVERYTHING breaks, nothing
is perfect. All I'm saying is if you hype up your products that much then your products should
live up to there name, if not then at least replace the damn thing.

Just because your a SR "OG" doesn't mean you can disrespect another rider. Your a well respected
rider yourself, so younger riders will follow your decisions. In effect caused people to agree with what
you say. One thing lead to another and other riders called TomK sketchy and saying "Oh you HAD to
have thrown your scooter for it to bend". Riders look up to you Brian, so I think you should act more
of a role model.

I know this has NOTHING to do with Proto, but a lot of older/more experienced riders don't realize how
much of a role they play in other riders lifes. I know you guys didn't ask to be role models but it happend.
Can WE ALL act more repectful towards other riders? Is that to much to ask?

To start, hyping up your products is advertising, advertising = sales. Any company will hype their products up to get them to sell better.

ANY FORK WILL BEND! Jeez, look at the structure, no metal is going to be able to resist bending if they are hit at a certain angle with enough force, its common sense.

Where did i disrespect him? Other people are, i might have called him lazy or whiny, nothing wrong with that. I never took a direct shot at him like these other people are, calling him sketchy and stuff. I am not jumping to conclusions saying he did slam it before hand, but something else contributed to this bend if it really did happen when he jumped this stair set. My first reaction to bending the fork would be to bend it back, instead of coming on here and begging for a new one. There is no warranty for bent forks, why should he be treated differently than everyone else?

Im human, i can't play nice guy 24/7. I try to help on here as much as possibly, but i can't have a halo over my head every time i post.

Haha, I understand. I certainly didn't mean just you, there are a lot of other respected riders
I was talking about as well. I'm just saying people will follow what you say and agree with you
because they look up to you and/or respect you.

I bent it jumping an eight stair but i had jumped it many times before the time it bent. But it was on the eight stair and i didnt throw my scooter. And brian I have bent it back countless times it just bends back. And yes if andrew keeps saying there the best than that is what i expect. I dont wanna pay for a 70 dollar fork that bends in one month.

I, once again, see both sides of the story. It always seems to come down to how ALL these parts were advertised to us sooo long ago. We all expected them to be the best, strongest, most durable, long lasting..whatever. Because we were told they would be. So naturally when wheels are breaking after as short as days, and now forks bending in a month....people get pissed. I also agree with most of what Brian is saying too though. Just because it says PROTO on it, does not mean when it breaks/bends...you get an immediate replacement. Shiit happens.

yeah steven i know if buff doesnt give me one then so be it. I have just been disappointed with proto parts overall. I love scs and slayers but wheels and forks have been a big let down.

Man, I come to this thread everyday and all I ever read about is more scooter riders bitching about something.
I think you're all just sketchy riders or something, cause I've been riding a stock fork since forever, and I'm sure if I ever got a proto fork that it would last me forever as well.

Well you see most people on this forum can successfully land a tail whip, with the exception of a select few.

i have a cool idea, lets all stop arguing and just make our own forks if you dont like that idea than their are several companies other that proto that make forks so buy from them, but if only 2 proto forks have broken, then i think they must be pretty damn solid

Yeah just chill people,
This thread wasnt put here to whinge and shit, it was put here to Discuss new PROTO stuff, not whine about it.

I fully support Andrew for all he has done and people should be grateful for that.

What would of happened to scootering if it wasnt for Andrew making all these new parts. It would of just died.

Be thankful for what he is making and what he has done cause if he hadnt, i believe most of you wouldnt be riding scooters atm.

Yeah. Tbh like Tom said, if Andrew didn't start producing scooter parts it would of just died. And with all the dis-respect that people are giving him, i can see him jacking it all in and saying 'Screw it, none of you are pleased with what i do'.

And like someone else said, just because it says 'Lifetime Warantee' everyone milks it too the max.

PROTO Scooters: Update Page 107

this is how i think it should work if its unusable u get a replacement so tom keep riding it till it snaps from bending so much then uv got a better chance at getting one

but hey thats just my opinion
