Razor Ultra Pro

The headtube is the weak spot on the decks, pretty sad that Razor didn't find a way to prevent this. Oh well, maybe make the next batch better?

And Devon, we rode at jurupa a long while back over the summer when John, Nick and all them were there when I first got my DXG bars from John.

JOSHHH TOYYY what happenin to the "improved" scooters?? doesn't compare to tsi. sorryy budddd.

Well, considering I hadn't had any issues with mine, it seemed like a great improvement from a Pro Model to an Ultra Pro. And you have to look at it as if it's the same situation as TSI. They had issues with snapping headtubes. So they improved upon it. Razor is wanting to do the same thing.

Also, I think you're able to get your broken Ultra Pro replaced if you contact customer services. As long as it's bought from Razor, I don't think the warranty is any good if you buy it from another retailer. Could be wrong, but I don't know.

James at Scooter Zone was telling me after I broke my first ultra pro, that he is talking to razor, so he said, that they want us to hold on to the ultra pros and headtubes, send them in and maybe get a new replacement one when he talks to them or works something out. Would that possibly happen Josh?

I'm sure it would be, if Razor agree's with James.

EDIT:
Some of you are funny though. You look at Razor as if it's supposed to be a hardcore rider owned company or something. I was talking to Bob Hadley the other day, he helps build and design products for Razor, also an in house guy that will be producing the parts they will be making soon. He made a great point. In comparison to the BMX industry.

Razor is like the GT or Redlines of BMX. They are a higher end production company. Then you have rider based/owned companies like FIT/S&M, Demolition, Kink, etc. Comparing GT to FIT/S&M would be ridiculous. GT makes bikes for the majority, while FIT/S&M makes them for the core riders. Right there, it shows you there are two seperate markets. Just like BMX, scooters has companies like this also, Proto, Inward, RAD, Eagle, etc. But on top of all that, you also have companies that sell in department stores like Mongoose, Next, etc. But you will never see a FIT in a department store. It's because those department stores don't sell higher end/expensive products. Razor fits in the department store catagory. They are made in mass production, made for a cheap price to be sold for exactly that, a low price. But you have to expect that you may be paying less, and having them break more often, but it gets the job done until you run into that problem. But by the time you snap or damage the higher end companies products, you'd have paid the same amount replacing the cheaper priced product a few times over.

My point being, Razor isn't a rider based quality, it's like a corporation, ran by suits. Then you have rider based like RAD, that make products for the core riders, not the majority of the public. Razor may not have the top designs, but they last a long time for how they are constructed, and specially for the price. And I've said it before, everyone takes the higher end products for granted. Just consider you're lucky to have options, us OG's had to make the best of things running bolted stock scooters just a few years ago. And as far as I'm concerned, Razor made an amazing product for the cost.
Sorry for the essay.

so true, some people take advantage of today's variety of parts, not that I was ever an OG rider, it would be nice to see less complaints, but after all it is textbook case for children to whine, moan, and complain, so I won't expect anything less

in regards to scooter zone and ultra pro's I'll keep that in mind in case mine does snap at the weld, I'd be surprised if that crook actually did do something for the customer though

Not just the welds, the headtube breaking in general. And crook?! Are you talking about James?! Because James is a really nice guy, tries to help everyone out when he can.

James is not a crook. He may charge a little to much for some parts that he's made, designed (ex. fakey brake). But the prices may drop soon. James has helped the sport for a while now, over 2 years, maybe 3? James has done a lot for the local scene, and helping the community out. If James didnt care why is he trying to make parts for riders that last? He wants the sport to have great quality parts that last.

Back to the subject. Im not hating on Razor in anyway, but maybe the next batch cound have some room for improvement, when Razor finds out the problem with the ultra pro headtube breakage. Maybe can go back to the square headtube and have it a little thicker?

Thanks for the help Josh, hope to met, ride, and chill with you someday.

Yes we did.
It was way to windy that day.

And james was telling me that to.

Are you serious?

Yeah, it was pretty windy that day, still a good sesh for as long as it went. And it was good to met you, your bro? and friend.

And flipasian, James is helping the sport, not trying to rip everyone off. He wants parts out, parts that can last with hard riding, abuse, and keep going.

I also agree with Josh's post a few posts up about the companies. There are multiple companies, some go into mass production for anyone to have a bike, and some that are rider based, owned, and make bikes in a smaller mass, but that last in BMXing. With the ultra pros, Razor is a company owned (like GT, Redline, etc), and TSI, Lucky and future decks (Rider Based).

I've only judged him based on my purchase experience, if you want the particulars I would have no problem explaining, in no where did I say that his intentions were anything other than to help the sport and community progress, so before people throw out more "omg, what, are you serious" etc, realize that I have my reasoning for bad blood from first impressions and am not implying he is a bad person, just bad business practices

jeez

also good to know it's the head tube in general, not that I'm out to gouge a free deck from razor though lol

Flipasian, sorry for taking it as a different way then intended. But James is running it all single handed, with some help from Chris Gascoigne, Nick Darger, few other workers. But he and they were moving shops a while back, and up to their necks in orders. James is trying his hardest with all the orders.

Yeah, Scooters, Bikes, Skateboards are ment to last as long as they can, nothing goes forever haha.
