Religion

Duh, Taoism is an old japanese religion, I don't know if it's not one of the 'not really a religion, more like a way of life' things though.

I'm catholic, but i think alot of it is shit. I dont belive theres a god. If theres a God, how was he/it created? I belive in them scientific creation storys though, you know big bang theory and that other crazy shit. I dunno though, some shit is just to crazy to think about. The church has alot of bullshit laws that i hate and can't stand. Stuff like being celabate and being against birth control, then having all them preist sex scandels is just gross. The day i see some crazy ass miracle or some dude with holes in his hands, feet, and a big slice in the side of him walking around, theres a chance ill belive in god.

and i hate how the catholic church is against gays and say they will go to hell. i mean really, who gives a crap let them be what they wonna be. all because your interested in men you go to hell? makes no sense to me

To add a little to the discussion:

For hundreds of years illness's were passed off as God doing but now we know I can be a viral or bactreal infection, Cancer, Diabities ETC. There is an answer to all that now thanks to science.

We all know the universe doesn't revolve around earth like catholicism said. Or that all weather was God's work.

Do you think science will become SO advanced that it will keep on proving things once passed off as gods doing are actually science?

No doubt, man.

NO. Not because people are limited by time and space. As God is believed to exist (if 'extistence' is a proper word) beyond those limitations, there won't ever be a way for us to either prove or bail his existence and the fact that he was the one who created the world. And you all should realise one thing: EVERYTHING has its reason. Even things like creative thinking (these would be some biological algorithms of data processing which goes on in your brain) or events that may seem totally random. And these reasons also have their reasons. Etc, etc, if you follow the reason chain you will end up at the beginning, the big bang which is the original reason of every occurence which has happened since now. And what was the reason of the big bang? We can only guess it, as Ive stated before; my guess is: God. But the fact that it had its reason is also a guess, no one will ever know about the buisness that goes on out of this timespace...

...unless he hucks himself into a black hole, lol.

I have given up doubting Science. I understand what your saying Pete and there is much truth to it but I have my own kind of faith, a faith to science and how it progess's.

Advancements are made every single day. Those days add up.

New idea. Who has read the Da Vinci Code? Your thoughts?

Could the ideas the book expressed actually be probable?

Although it is mainly fictional, it is based on facts, why would the church get so angry and protective when the movie came out? Do they have something, anything to hide?

Well I haven't read it, but I will plan to in the near future just for this thread. But in the meantime could you tell us some of these ideas?

I read the davince code a loooong time ago, and saw the movie when it first came out. And made me wonder about the catholic church a lot, but i dont really know.

Haha, I don't care about what anyone says but the Da Vinci Code is a book that, after getting it on friday evening, made me spend the WHOLE weekend on reading it (with literally no breaks but meals). It was so stunning, lol.

I don't really know about the effect of the book, the views in it may be bailed, but now Im slightly anticlerical anyway and I don't know if it's caused by the book's influence or not.

The church got so angry because it's currently lacking authority. The views in the book and the movie are exposed in such way to expose the church in a bad light. These views are sometimes based on false fact and stuff, but most people who read the book/watch the film dont care or know about it. The churchs policy about it is riddiculous and idiotic. It is obvious that ondemning something while lacking authority will make people curious about that even more. In fact, the controversy is the main reason of the book selling so well and the church's condamnation makes it even bigger.

Well, I'm Catholic, But I have a Friend who says he's 'Pastafarian'
(Yes, The Flying Spaghetti Monster, touched him with his Noodely Goodness), Interestingly enough, Our school admits only Catholics, so he's pretty silent about his 'faith' when it comes to listing religion on the re-application form at the start of each year.
