iv thought abotu this many times. and my mom is cool with scooter but the one thing she hates is the name. she had a really good idea im sure everyone has thought about, that if we had a better name, one singular word that explained we dont push around scooters, that we do tricks on push scooter, our sport woudl benefit. when you say i ride a scooter, someone outside the sport sees a little razor foldy going down the street hoppign with one foot on the ground. so a word to differentiate us from them would be nice.

We ride scooters. We are scooter riders. it ends in -er, therefore you wouldn't add another -er on to the end.

Face it, nobody's going to change the name of "scootering." It's been around for ten years. Even if you could change it, I'm sure most would still just call it scootering. Be proud that you ride a scooter, don't be ashamed because the name is "childish" as so many of you say. It's a word, who cares.. Just go ride.

I go with scooterist, but I avoid the term if I have to. I generally go with "I ride scooters" rather than "I am a scooterist".

I think the annoying thing is that scooter itself is a dumb name to begin with.

we should come up with a new name for scootering. like push biking or some thing lol

People that ride BMX aren't called BMXers. I mean really, think about it that sounds retarded. "Bicycle Motor Crossers". They're called bikers.

So there's bikers, bladers, skaters, and scooter kids.

Edit: And I agree with Joe, but I still think the word "scooter" is one of the gayest in the english language.

All the kids that ive ever seen ripsticking just exert way too much effort trying to move, and then just fall over after going 20 feet.
