I feel we don't have any super legendary riders yet. Like people that are so beyond what everyone else can do that no one will ever equal them. Sure, Matt Mckeen and Tyler Bonner and Terry Price are all shredders but the level of riding that's come out of them so far has been obtainable.
However I feel that we are getting close to having people in scootering comparable to say, Rodney Mullins or maybe P-Rod of skateboarding. I think the next video from Matt Mckeen and probably the whole Addict crew, as well as this next Lucky DVD, if done right, will set street riding at the forefront of scootering. At least I hope they will. I hope there will be a part in one of these DVDs that surpasses everything ever done on a scooter too. Something that grabs the whole world's attention.
Now. About street vs. park. My question is, which is bigger, skateboarding or BMX? Obviously skateboarding. Now, which style in skateboarding is generally regarded as more difficult, more hardcore, and overall, more original and skillful? Street style. With huge events like the Maloof Money Cup and now with Street League, street skating is taking off even more. Street is more original, more entertaining to watch, and more difficult to ride. I believe scootering should strive to gain a harder image, similar maybe to skateboarding. This will propel our sport past the "little kiddy" image we still have and all the shit talking I put up with at my local from the little shits of skateboarding and it will garner more interest. I feel street riding is the only way to do that.
Like I said, more difficult, more hardcore, more original. That's what we need.
