this is so so true. im not a great rider shit im a crap rider but i break parts frequently and it pisses me off when little kids chat shit about me having a good scooter. each part except the wheels are almost a year old and i look after my scooter every weekend i grease the bearings make sure my parts are nice and tight and if they are not i will find a way to fix them. i had a jd bug deck but i didnt have the right spacers so i went down to the hard ware store and i bought some washers and i dialed my scoot up without having to go to my local scoot store and spending 4 pounds (6 dollars) on spacers and stuff that i dont need.

Downside wheels: 7 months
RUP deck: 9 months
RUP bars: Almost a year
ODI grips: Over a year
Downside headset: Around a year

I'm on a FrID deck and Downside bars now, still riding the other parts though.

Fuck rich kids.

i hate those kids at the skatepark that cant even barspin and they have a fully custom complete
i ride my parts until they are truly unridable
basically everything on my scooter right now is right about to break or has already broken and i i some how ghetto'd it together.

i just hate when people spend money on useless parts and change their set up every other day when the money they use isnt theirs. sure they have a right to do what they want, but it still makes them look like absolute grubs even if their parents or boyfriends don't mind. but thats just my opinion, obviously they can do whatever they want and it really is none of anyones business how/why people use family members to buy them parts they're going to be ungrateful for and sell/trade them while still asking for more from them and never even use it anyway..

Maybe she's trying to go through new parts to see what she likes for her?

It took me roughly 2 or 3 years to finally find the perfect setup that I am riding today, and I have been riding that setup for quite some time now.

All I gotta say is, all of these kids selling and buying all of these parts will realize it if they don't already that as long as you have one solid setup that you feel comfortable with riding, STICK WITH THAT SETUP for as long as you can. That's how your going to get better and progress. I'm not singling anyone out or trying to hate on anyone, its just trying to help.

haha, but really, grips for over year, that is too much.

I've had my longnecks for a year and they're barely worn in.

I now love my setup and I'm definitely gonna ride it for a long time. It took me a while to find something I like but I'm extremely content now. Haha

niceeeeeeeee fallacy.

the parts you're riding now werent around 3 years ago, so obviously you wouldnt have been riding it then. new parts, better parts, come out all the time, and it will keep happening forever. if you want to have a good scooter that's fine, mine looks pretty good imo, but when you're spending more time building up your scooter than riding it, theres something wrong.

sure, she can do what she wants but that doesnt put her above criticism. muse seams like a shopaholic that spends her boyfriends money on things she doesnt need, and makes horrible decisions because to me it seams like she thinks she's un-touchable.. stealing while your pregnant then auctioning off the thing you stole to get your child a shirt... while already having a good enough income to to buy 3 hooked up bikes, 2 hooked up scooters and expensive electronics? thats horrible idc what kind of excuse you have.

I do this so bad, but I pay for everything myself and have to work to get my parts. Saying that though, my set up is worth half what most on here are.
Building up a new set up and creating something awesome is half the fun for me - like people that spend years going to gym and training up but never actually do any sport.

This thread has kind of gone in weird directions. The only thing we should be trying to promote is to stop OBSESSING over having a super sexy scooter that matches to look at and show off to the online world (Maybe win the super duper prize of SOTM omg) and start actually going out and riding. You know, outside...

All this stuff about kids at the park with $500 set ups who can't barspin has nothing to do with it, at least they are at the park riding and not on SR bitching about things they can't change.

theres a stupidly rich kid down my road who rides:
ODI's (like everyone)
Crowbars (if you want them in the UK, you need to pay like, 125 pounds)
Apex SCS
reventon
Apex forks
Blunt headset
Proto grippers (like , $60 a wheel , so $120 , 100 pounds, plus, 10 pounds shipping = 110 pounds divided by 4 is like27.50, nearly so around 140 pounds)
phoenix brake
bones swiss ceramic bearings (110 pounds....)
apex pegs.

and he cant even manual
