yeah. i went to a christian school for like ???? 10 years then moved to a publix school and everything changed for me.

yes alot of the things in the bible arent true like SOME stories and things like how the universe was created, but it does have good things to live by (morals). i mean yeah, its bad if we "sin" and such but doesnt mean like we go to some place with a dude that tortures us or whatever. sayings its complete bullshit is COMPLETLY wrong. if everyone read and listebed to what it said then wede have a perfect world

btw, im atheist :)

btw again, this is nick granger
yea dude, exactly.

Haha have you ever read any part of the bible??? Its not about morals at all. Its the stories of how everything was back then and how jesus died for our sins and everything. Well im a christian so i have a bible and everything.. i used to read a little bit of it every night but i dont that much anymore and i want to start reading it again more often..
He isn't saying its trying to teach you shit, hes saying that how he takes it, that the stories didnt ACTUALLY happen, but that they're like fables.

What? Well first you said hes not saying its trying to teach you stuff, but then you say hes saying that their like fables. And part of a fable is that it teaches a moral lesson.

ps. I don't read the bible because a lot of it is bullshit, and some of the lessons it teaches are bullshit as well...

ok to all the people that are gonna start calling me the devil:

yes the bible wasnt made to tell us morals and stuff. but if you honestly read it and how jesus and god led people and told them stuff to do to make them better people youd get my point.

ive read the WHOLE ENTIRE BIBLE so nobody can say idk what im talking about

1. Moses- Led the people away from the pharoah and split an ocean in half.... ok ocean thingy, impossible/ but had a good moral to do what is right and help people in need

2. Adam and Eve- lived in some garden and was told by "god" to not eat the apple from the tree in the middle of the garden. they were tempted by the snake (devil, satan) to eat an apple. they got kicked out for not obeying

moral: dont fall into temptation even when it seems like a small thing, like eating an apple

so yeah. proved my point really. btw, ten commandments = morals duh....

btw 900th post :)

The bible says those whom work on the sabbath (sundays) should be stoned to death. Im dead serious.

Thats one of maybe 10-12 things in the bible that have brutal death sentences by being stoned to death. Raped woman and rebellious teenagers met the same fate, cause the bible says so.

So much of the bible is (in this day in age) retarded and as anyone who half knows me here on SR, you know I have no faith in any religion and even less in Catholicism.

Although the things Jesus HIMSELF said made perfect sense and I believe every rational, caring human being follows/should follow.

Ex: Treat other like you would like to be treated and blah blah blah.

yeh thats written in the old testament, thats the rules that all the jews followed before jesus' death on the cross and modern christianity started, christians believe in the new testament now which doesnt have that in it.

i dont really have any stance on this, i know the universe definatly didnt explode into existance, it had to be there all along and its something we will never fully understand. (we cant confirm or deny that God made the universe)

the rest of the bible is up to you to figure out, its was meant for everyone to form an opinion on not just one person to read and spread his view of it.. alot of people have different standpoints that others wouldnt get and its mainly made for each individual.

knowledge of the bible never hurt anyone though, and its material has alot of guidelines that are important to live by.

John, you would be VERY surprized to know how many people swear both testiments as true and never read them. Its ridiculous to be honest.

Other then that, I agree. Its simply a story book to teach morals and how good people should live thier lives.

i think about this everyday, haha and talk about it, its weird i kinda believe in eveolution, and the big bang theory yet i bleive in jesus christ and what not, but the whole adam and eve thing and god creating the world, i dunno,

sorry for the tiny bump

you don't know what you're talking about.

parting of the red sea is totally possible. on certain tidal occasions low areas of the red sea have been known to go completely dry. also the red sea is quite large. so moses and his people crossed the sea on one of these occasions, then a couple days later the egyptians followed. as theyre going through the water starts to return. it would take quite awhile to lead a whole army of eqyptians across a sea. eventually the water continues to rise until it gets to a point where they drown. proven to be possible.

like i said, there are SO many things in the bible that are just cast away as impossible by people that don't know what theyre talking about because they take it literally. do you really think the egyptians were right on the heels of the israelites? a mounted army was just trotting right behind the old ladies as they walked? no, don't take it literally, they were days or weeks behind, its only logical.

in the same way, if you interpret the bible's stories, instead of reading them literally, it makes a hell of alot of sense.

minus the old testament, that shits pretty crazy for the most part. good intentioned, but crazy.

AKA the jews. HA! sorry, i had to do it. no way this thread was getting this far without someone making a jew joke.

but yeah travis, i think you might be the only one that understans what the bible really is.

it will all come true and if you don't believe it you will be sorry when he comes to earth or you meet him in heaven. he makes your life a lot better and gives you guidance, and you are never alone if you have him. he is cool!!!! (God) haha
might as well read it and believe and see what happens. it is not going to hurt anything but only make it better. try it!!
yeah, the bibles a really good book. just try reading a verse every night before you go to bed, it will make you think about it and understand it a lot more, plus you won't have to spend an eternity suffering in hell

the bible's good, but read some books on theology/history too.

the jews were expecting a physical king to lead them from oppression and exile, not just a moral leader. they expected the son of god to be a person who would help them regain the land that they believe is rightfully theres.

currently, the gaza strip is still split between israel and palestine, so to them nothing has changed. the jews acknowledge jesus, but they see him only as another prophet, not the son of god. this is also the reason why they don't recognize the new testament.
