The Fixed Gear Thread!

So... I found a Cinelli Speciale Corsa track frame and a Vzan rim laced to a dura ace rear track hub, in the attic of a local bike shop. I'm trying to buy at least the frame, it's been painted blue wich was the color of their racing team but it's in good condition.
There's a big chance I might get the frame, I'm extremely stoked on the find.
There's probably 5-6 track frame in that attic, a bunch I couldnt Identify tough. Theres also an old Caloi Road frame made by Eddy Merkx, its gorgeous.
Might have an awnser on the cinelli later on today.

Will try, forgot to add that I got a Brooks CR3 saddle never used for pretty cheap. Heading back to the shop saturday morning, shop owner wasnt there this morning and the track stuff are from his private items. I'm almost positive he'll sell me the Cinelli frame tough.

so I ghetto rigged my schwinn today. shoved a bend brake mount and spring in to rear gears so its a fixie now =] I gotta try and make it a little more solid now though.

k i scoped like the first two pages. Pretty much fixies are the ultimate in trendyness.
BUT
Mashing downtown on a fixie is no joke.
180s down 5 stairs however is more retarded then "urban" mountain biking lol.

If I wanted to mash streets I would much rather have gears...

They are pretty hip, but whatever. They're not hip when you actually ride them distances, like road bikes, not just bar to bar. And doing tricks on them is pretty retarded, but it is fun. At least if you like breaking parts easily.

Yeah that shit breaks easyy.
When i go down to seattle there is so many trendy ppl who obviously ride them for the "style" though you know what I mean? If ima bar hop ill ride my moped :)
I hit dirt jump on a 12 speed shwinn from a garage sale or somthing idk where it came from. Haha anyway i hit it probably 4 times and the time the forks blew out and the back wheel turned into a pretzel haha. was probly about 12' gap even shit was gnarr.

Lance Armstrong's customized trek:

Featuring subtle flat black paint offset by glossy contrast details including Marc Newson's ââ?¬Å?Stroboscopicââ?¬Â rear wheel design that appears to pulse as it spins, the bike brings a new level of design sophistication to the most legendary cycling event in the world while simultaneously flying the flag of cancer awareness in Livestrong yellow.

And, Berlin bans fixed gears:

If you're going backwards, yes. Or if you're mad strong and can skid and crank backwards.

Edit: I usually don't like risers, but this bike is sweet. The frame is sick too, there's a local guy who has one and it's the bee's knees.

Actually it's a TT bike so it's prolly not super light weight, prolly around 18lbs. TT bikes are all about being aerodynamic, not as much about weight.

plus bikes have minimum weight requirements in the tour so they would never let a 5 pound bike enter anyway

I don't think tensioners really matter much (what kind you get). I've been using a Redline one from my old old bike and it's fine. Just make sure it's short/long enough to fit with your dropouts.

anyone know much about single speed 29's?
oh, and would a 19" frame work for me? i stand about 6 foot 4 inches, and i plan to use the bike for mild offroad/street use.
