Sad news guise, I'm gonna be putting my freewheel on and running that. No more fixed gear for me, at least until some fixed specific races.

My knees will benefit from it, especially when I'm going down hills. And I can pretend I'm on a roadie.

Put a rear brake on your bike, go easy on the skids and you should be fine, my right knee is a piece of ----- smashed my knee bone in 5 pieces once, I have 2 screws and a metal plate in there and I cant stretch my right leg completely and I still ride fixed fine.
You already have both brake levers on and you probably have a rear brake around since they come in pairs give it a try. I found that skidding without using the front brake to help me slow down really makes my knee hurt but as long as I skid while braking it's all good.

I hadn't done skids in ages, they're so ineffective for stopping. Single speed is just my cheap fix until I get gears.
