most people would say shit to me and that because of scootering, but then i got on o22y and then MGP, which then it all died down and they probably figured something like "hey he's getting something out of it", and i was and still am the first to get something out of riding a scooter in Hong Kong, which is hella G

i guess people respect me now for it but i still dont really like riding and doing tricks infront of people, mainly because then i'd feel as if im trying to show off or something but yeah
defiantly, sadly the scooter scene in sac town aint so hot, and im not down to self film a whole sponsor me edit haha, but i would have to agree with you on riding in front of people

i was over riding pretty much like beginning of this year and shit, until i started to ride with like c poe and issac p and just older people that drop by my area and it brought back the fun in riding being able to ride with people your age

Why should you care ever? You can't ride a scooter in your house dawg, you gotta go outdoors which the rest of the world happens o live in. You're sponsored and you're still semi-insecure? The bystanders can eat shit, what makes them so entitled to think certain thoughts, spoken or unspoken, to affect your riding?

I live on a boat haha

The people in my area are judgmental n shiz, and I'm usually unconfident for everything else too so not only scootering haha, but I know what you mean and all

Absolutely great write up.

One thing that I love about riding is just being able to chill with friends, and it ends up developing into more of a lifestyle than just a hobby. It really disappoints me that I'm like the only one in my area that still rides. To meet up with anyone that takes it seriously I have to drive 30+ minutes.

As far as quitting goes:
I had a group of friends that used to ride about 1-2 years ago. Slowly they all started to quit, and it was really sad because we always got together every weekend. Whether it be riding in front of my house on my ghetto kicker and grindbox or going into town and hitting up street spots. I miss those day so much it was the funnest shit haha. But anyway like I said I'm the only one in the area that rides anymore (not considering scooter kids). I'm just glad I still have the memories and stuff, and that I still have fun whenever I do get the chance to ride, even if it is out in front of my house, by myself.

Just an update:

I've since gotten my license (inb4 Robert makes an Asian driver joke lolol) and its been awesome. Parents are letting me drive to skateparks now and I meet up with the locals. Guys are super chill and I'm starting to get a real drive to progress and film again. Feels good to get out of my neighborhood to ride again.

Don't get me wrong there are many good riders in pro teams but 99% of rider I see are ultra park orientated. (May be kind of bias because I live in the British countryside, all though we are surrounded by lots of outdoor skateparks)

Yesterday I saw a bunch of "pros" ( they're pro because they can do cool ass clear tricks)
attempt to feeble a ledge
About a foot high
The sketchyness was unreal
I tried to give them advice and they said "no one wants to listen to you, you can't even backflip"
"But I can grind" (it's probably the only ramp that I ride at my local along with the rail)
"Yea but nobody wants to learn from someone who can't backflip"

10/10 for logic

I just find it so annoying that park dominated companies have pushed the idea that you have to do a certain trick to be considered good and so on. It makes me sick. All I see at my local and at other parks in my area are kids doing the same tricks looking terrible with no sense of originality.

Ps. I just left my sponsor and got replaced with a 10 year old who can't whip flat, but OMG HES SO CUTE AND HE CAN BERKFLERP . I have to say, uniun is the only brand in the uk that I look up to at the moment as they spotlight riders with flair and originality, and are rider owned. Wish more companies look past the "checklist" to get sponsored and just watched them from a different standpoint

If it keeps going on like this scootering in the uk is going to get unbearable and I think it is getting to the point where I may quit.

Just ride by yourself, or keep looking for that one friend. I think you're with the majority on this forum in hating little annoying scooter kids/sketchy ass park rats.
