The Passion that is Riding...Who Feels It? +The Topic of Quitting.

Sorry to bump but this a great thread. I have only seen another rider once that was ok and I have no friends that scooter. I still ride 2 hours a day for the last half a year or so. I started messing around on an old razor 4 years ago and got my current scooter 3 years ago. I still have it it's beat up, the bars can't stay straight for more then a minute but I still loose track of time while I'm riding, sometimes I'll try a trick for three hours and never realize how long it's been ahha. I lost my drive and basically quit unicycling so I understand that feeling, I pick it up and get on and I'm overwhelmed with sadness everytime, my seat broke and it's so expensive for a good one that I can't fix it and I lost my drive. I was even able to grind before it broke. For scooters the parts are a bit cheaper and I also don't get crotch pain so that's a big plus (tmi sorry) I wish I had friends who scooter, my neighbour skates but he's a pathological liar so that's annoying, I'm in rural Ontario so there aren't many good things unless you build em. Sorry for the rant

Riding doesn't feel as fun for me as it did a while ago and before, every session since like 2 weeks ago has been so shit. I fuck up on even basic tricks, and I'm losing some of my tricks. Doesn't feel good at all anymore.

I'm also really shit at everything else I try and do as well, life feels so fucking bad right now.

I just went though that.
Its like scooter depression, and it sucks.
I had it for like 8-9 months and just had to push myself through it.
What helped was to just ride for like 2 hours at a time cruising the streets without tricks and without music; just you and your scooter. It really helped me remember the reason I ride in the first place.

my passion never really went away, but since ive come to school it has gotten 10x stronger. I find myself busy most days with class and work and when i am able to get out there a few times a week i just ride as hard as i possibly can. This doesn't have to be with school, but with anything else, ive found that when you are limited in when you can ride, you just get a huge itch to ride. Riding less then i did before school i am progressing more just because i am so motivated when i do get out there

I may have just gone on the most relaxing cruise I've ever been one. I literally rode to the top of a hill, threw my scooter in the air and spun around in circles in the middle of the street. I then proceeded to ride down the hill with my eyes closed. It was then that I remembered why I rode scooers in the first place. You can't kill the metal.

I agree completely. When I was younger I did many more tricks, but now I mainly just love to cruise, jump high, and do manuals. I love night rides in the summer.

RIDING A SCOOTER THAT FEELS GOOD IS CRITICAL TO WANTING TO RIDE! When the scooter feels like shit in some sort of way, it definitely weighs on you, it makes riding feel like shit. Like if your wheels feel like shit, it's not fun to cruise around. If your deck doesn't have the dimensions you need, whips and other tricks aren't fun. If the scooter is janky, nothing is fun. KEEP YOUR PARTS MAINTAINED AND REPLACE WHEN NEEDED. IT'S WORTH WHATEVER MONEY YOU CAN SAVE!

This is my view on riding. I don't ride to progress like most people (not that I don't like to progress). I ride because it feels right. I feel more comfortable on my scooter than I do on my feet. It's indescribable the sensation that I get from riding.

will back this up 110% even getting paid to ride them wasn't enough to keep me on them and still no better now imo.

I don't ride anymore. The scene is plagued with kids and my back hurts too much trying to ride such a small scooter. It was fun while it lasted. Now I spend my money on downhill MTB and cars. Glad to get out of it though, the image is just ridiculous.

I get 'scooter depression' every once in a while. Last night the star nut in my fork stripped. I contemplated quitting for the 2 hours it took me to get it out lol (hammered the shit out of it with a screwdriver until it eventually broke)

What helps:
-Buy new parts. Getting some fresh parts or even changing up your setup a little bit will get you hyped again
-Go solo sesh for a while. Empty skatepark with just you and your scoot. It will jog your memory of why you started to scoot in the first place.
-Stop trying so hard. At this point I barley try when I ride. It just feels so good to ride your scooter; flow around and get air. Do simple stuff and jump high.

When I was younger I did many more tricks, but now I mainly just love to cruise, jump high, and do manuals.

+1 from me. I used to think it was about tricks when I was younger too so I would be really bummed when I saw all my friends (who are pro now) progress past me. But sooner or later you realize its about the FEEL. Not good at tricks? Don't sweat it. Do what you can and have fun with it.
