The Scooter World
The scooter world, as I like to call it. The changes that the scooter world has been through over the past 5 years has changed dramatically. I remember when the days of Razor vs. Raptor. I remember the days of Team NW and the expansion of teams and companies. Like any idea as the rest, they all have downfalls. Look at Silas Henderson, he was probably the most tech rider at his time. He quit riding all together and started skateboarding. Then remember good ol Al Lampton and Jordan Miller? Both amazing riders, still amazing to this day. KC Corning was on Team NW, but then moved away to Washington for a while. The thing that these new riders don't understand is how different the forums were. You had the skat board. I doubt if a select few here even remember those. You had riders come and go every now and then.
Awakening of N.B.S.
After all of this was going on, Chris Daigle decided to start a website called Nothing but Scooters, otherwise known as N.B.S. I took over the operation because I was figuring out how to design pages. Then after I had a site, all I had to do was to promote the riders who I rode with and myself. That wasn't an easy task. I remember when I released NBS1, it was a hit. I knew from then on, the videos would just get better and so would the riding. NBS2 came out and at the time it was nothing special than NBS1. Yeah it had some newer tricks but nothing to fancy. I had an idea for a video to include other riders that needed exposure at the time. I figured the more people I talked to, the more footage I could get of them to put in my videos. I put KC Corning in NBS2 because he was the most insane at whips at that time. I already had plenty of footage of Jarret Reid that I could release. Then I thought to myself I can expose Matt Pate since he had all of this footage saved up. I figured what the hell, I will add them to my video to help them out and to help me out. Well you know the riders you love to watch today, I promoted.NBS3 came out and everyone was amazed that you can watch a 15 minute scooter video with the most riding any video at the time had. This was also a big point in my life. I released other videos and previews which just let everyone knew that NBS was still around and kickin ass such as JP2K3 and the nbs5 preview. The the long awaited video, NBS4, debuted itself to the scooter world with its 42 minute video which featured the best riders in the world. At this time my videos were unmatchable. It seems like I keep ranting about how good my videos were, but I am not going to lie. The NBS videos are what set the standard for the scooter world and how it is today.
Life
I spent my whole 4 years of high school devoted to nothing but scooters, hence the name. I barely got through high school because my mind was somewhere else. Taking 2 weeks out of my senior year to go to Japan didn't help much either. I know im not the only one who thinks this but when you get to school you think, "Fuck, a whole day of this. Then you sigh and say to yourself that you can't wait to get out of school because you are going riding righht after with your best friend. I did that every single day for the past 4 years. Id still ride if it was raining. I didn't give a shit. If it was too wet to ride, I would go biking instead. Two wheels and handle bars. Thats all I need. Anyways, back to the subject. My life at this time was devoted to riding everyday and getting as much footage as possible in the couple hours before it got dark.
Done with school. What to do?
I was nearly getting done with finishing high school and a few friends of mine told me that the RVM1 and RVM2 are a joke. I said, "Yeah, Yeah, I know. Nathan Norman and Jeff Ferris aren't the greatest." They have seen some of my videos and said why don't you make their next video. It was a great a idea. Ali Kermani(Razor Team Manager) and I got together and said we can do this if we devote our summer to it. We got it done late but it was done. Probably the craziest video as far as tricks goes to this day. Some of you on this forum have already seen it and only 3 copies have been made. Go figure?
The 212 Degree point
This is where it boils down to and my point gets across. I have been here since Day 1. I can tell you right now that I am very greatful for that and that I will continue to help the scooter world in any way I can but when I get told to calm down and told to do some thing, SHIT HITS THE FAN. I can take any rider on this forum, put them in a video and just glorify them. Everyones favorite riders have been in NBS videos. Josh Toy, Chris Daigle, KC Corning, Matt Pate and myself have set in the Rosetta Stone that this is what scootering is and if you don't like it, get the fuck out. I can make you fame or I can give you shame. Whos side are you on?
