Why are there practically ZERO bars that go past 24 inches tall?

I'm a tall guy (6' 4''). I'm trying to get back into riding after I've been out for awhile, but I'm not trying to break my back doing it now that I've grown. 24 inches simply isn't tall enough (think about all the 5' 8'' guys who ride 22 high.) I do understand that 24 inches can come down to a materials thing, as 24 inches is 2 feet of tubing, and tubing is often bought in 2 foot tubes, however this does not explain at all why bars with gussets never go past 24 inches either. I'm also aware c4 bars go up to 26 inches, I'll probably opt for those, but from what I understand, their bars take quite some time to get.

Any ideas as to why this is? Anyone have the same problem? I can't imagine how someone 6'6'' or 6'8'' would ever ride a scooter. I mean hell, even bike bars go up to 10 inches high for tall guys (absolutely massive for bike bars.) What's up with the discrimination, scooter companies? I really feel like their should be more options for the riders, but almost no one if offering it. I think it's important companies start offering the extra height. Opinions?

well if you want bars tall as possible, there are a few options. one, email a company such as tsi who could probably make you custom sized bars if you wished. two, you could buy 24 inch bars, ride scs, and shove a 1 1/8" tube to cover the slit, and gain two inches by doing that. Im pretty sure they aren't discriminating to the taller population of scooter riders, i think they are just marketing what is most appealing to the consumers, which ranges from about 16 high for the little ones and 24 high for those who are in your position. but if you are riding your bars at the general height of an inch or so below the waist, then 24 high should suffice. thats just a rough estimate though

Most scooter riders aren't > 6 feet tall. So do what Dave said and see if someone can custom make you some mega bars

Yeah, I know that's why they do it, but I'm sure you get what I'm saying.

Thanks David and Rob for reminding me how legit TSI is. I'll have to give Tom a message, but also, please don't lock the thread, I'm not just looking for an answer, but was hoping for a little bit of discussion.

A 6'8" man riding a scooter would have way more problems than just bar height lol.

But seriously now, almost any manufacturer that produces their own parts in the US would be able to make custom-spec bars, they just don't mass produce them in those sizes so they don't have them listed on their sites.

Give scooterzone a call too, in the shop a lot of the bars are 26 tall no slit, so if you ran scs you coul run up to 28 tall. Tsi would forsure make you bars too

its not discrimination, its just there are very few people who need bars over 24 high. so just buy rads 24 high off of fd and run scs, because you want the shortest down tube possible, because the longer the downtube, the easier the bars are to break

I am 6'-1" and run 21.5" tall + tilt scs.
I would think that 24" tall bars in scs would be plenty tall for a guy your size...maybe too tall.

Height is one of several factors. Consider arm length and flexibility, as well. It's all preference.

Anyway, email a company. That's all you really can do.

I definitely wouldn't ride anythng smaller than 23" high, at 6'2".

TSI should be able to custom make a pair as someone stated before.
