1) style isnt a trick
2) he makes bank. he has a contract with lucky and therefore is most likely mandated to do this stuff.
3) he will probably smoke you in scoot anywhere
4) just leave him alone

I know everyone is turning into street elitists and everyone turned gay for that stuff, but you still have to recognize that some companies are buisnesses. These buisnesses will blow up scootering, as their net worth increases. Its just marketing and expansion. And gtfo with people sucking rider owned dicks. Proto is coming out with multiple different brands in the next year, so they will make more money. Its all about money with whatever company it is, or else they wouldn't be in buisness anymore.

What Proto is doing to expand it's capital is very different to what Lucky is doing to expand it's capital, which is still worth noting. I have faith that Proto wont make a move that would diminish or otherwise contradict what the brand was founded upon.

I don't think a debate on wether companies want to make money is even necessary, it's just logic and fact. None of you should have a problem with companies trying to make money, thats crazy talk. You should be interested in their brand, their team, quality/creativity of products and their ownership. If the ownership show evidence that they are not in this for the right reasons and doesn't listen to their team or community than they probably suck and will disappear eventually.

On another note:

I agree people give Kota a lot of shit but whatever, he's loving life right now and thats awesome.

hmmm. id say this is relatable to skating, to an extent. they have zumiez and mall shops shutting down core skateshops and giving skating a bad name. Skating also has World Industries, Birdhouse, Darkstar and all those Sports Authority brands. id say this is close to a direct correlation with MGP, Grit and Lucky, brands JUST like the skate brands i stated, all marketed towards little kids. BMX has the same thing as Kota, if not a whole flyout/park scene. Its all relative honestly. You can bash scootering for what it is or appreciate how far its come in the past few years. Ive noticed it and im sure you all have too.

edit: yes support brands like addict, proto, tilt, hella grip and all the good rider owned companies that are gonna push scootering in the direction we all wanna see it go towards. i also think scooter videos should learn a thing or 2 from skate videos. last but not least RIDE STREET, it'll gain us respect from other sports which may give us support i.e.. BAMBOOZLE SKATE SHOP

Guys just look at it this way, the more money that the companies make, the more little kids who scooter, is more trips that the team can go on, more money that that company has to put into the sport. Nicer cameras, they can start making their own parts as opposed to having someone else do it, do you think Collin is going to be able to pay off the warehouse full really expensive machinery if the only people who are buying his parts are broke ass stoners? No, of course not. But to the part about the bar being lowered, yeah, that bothers me , because to be honest, like half of the new riders on AO and Raptor and whatnot are not proffesionals at all and do not deserve to be flown to California. I'm not going to name any names, but I know you guy know who I'm talking about, and its not Zig.

Legit companies need more exposure. Little kids come into the shop I work at/am sponsored by, and they want a maddgear. "Well buddy, have you looked at the vertx complete or the district complete?" No i want a maddgear team. "Okay then..."

Kids should be coming into the shop and going OMG TILT AND LOOK IS THAT A PROTO YOOOOO IS THAT THE ETHIC

I'd rather a Mgp complete then a district complete tbh.

fuck maddgear. i think district makes some pretty legit stuff. im not gonna dedicate my time and effort to only support rider owned companies but i try to as much as i can. district doesn't have a damn BMX team and make shoes for walmart...

addict might not be "rider owned" 100% but they have the styles and products that seem to get the most respect
Addict is in no way rider owned, they are owned by district.

Wut, madd gear doesn't make shoes for walmart, their shoes were actually pretty nice, they just look bad.

uhhhh? that made sense... my point is all companies are in it for the money. if they werent they wouldnt exist. so support core companies that haven't sold out, not MGP or fuzion or the shit they sell at walmart. district, addict or eagle haven't sold out. so i dont really understand what the hate is about.

District most definitely would be considered a sell out company, they don't even pay their own riders for their signature parts.

havent heard that one. but im gonna play devils advocate. what if district doesnt have enough income to pay the riders per signature part. i mean most kids that buy the decks buy it for the colors like someone said above, most little kids arent gonna buy a deck because it has chris harts name on it. idk just food for the mind. to be honest this industry is pretty fucked up so i dont know who is a "real company"

To my knowledge the signature parts cost more than the other ones, and most other companies do that because the extra money goes to the rider, district pockets the money instead of giving it to the rider.
