Why do people hate on scootering so much?

?

I used to skate. But I didn't see what was so wrong with scootering. So I just started scootering, enjoyed it and found it naturally easy for me.

Some people.

i used to skate, and i rollerbladed for a little while too. I also have been riding bmx for 3.5 years and counting.
All the skaters at my nearest local think I am awesome, but its a street style plaza, and I am the only scooter rider there.
At another one of my locals, all the skaters hate scooter riders, but that park is also infested with a bunch of scooter kids.

Because there's a bunch of idiots who ride scooters. Unlike BMX, your average skater knew about the little scooter kids before he knew about the pros who were doing it right. So, in their minds, scooters will always be associated with little snakes whose parents treat the park like a day care.

Any average person with enough intellect would understand that we are not separated by our sports as much as we think.. we all go to the same park.. we all get shit for riding spots.. and the cops do not give a shit what you ride if you break the their rules..

We are just people trying to enjoy riding what is fun to us, and dedicate our time to it to get better with it.

Everything is different to ride, some things may be easier at first.. some may be extremely difficult. What matters is that you keep riding whatever it is that is fun, keep progressing your riding and the sport you choose, and be stoked when you or someone else learns something new or fun..

Not difficult to be a normal person, some people just don't understand lol.

Because before freestyle scootering became relatively popular, scooters only appealed to the toy market.

Everyone at my school knows me for scootering and think I'm hella good. My friends fuck around with me sometimes when I have my scooter with me and call me gay but they are just joking. Only little freshman who think they are the shit call me a fag for scootering. Most skaters at my local know the diffrence between scooter kids and scooter riders so as long as you don't snake anyone and don't fuck around they won't bother you.

From the outside, it is just a little kid sport. I enjoy riding as much as the next person, but be honest, we ride toys. Who's not to say a skateboard is a toy as well, but older people have been doing it since the 70's and that stigma was pushed aside. It is just going to take time for the general public to accept that.

Because there a lot of annoying little shits that ride and make a bad name for all of us

to any parent that reads this, if your going to drop your kid off at the park, dont get out of the car, if your going to park and wait for him, dont come out and make sure hes alright, if he falls, wait a decent while or until someone approaches you telling you that your kid just fucked him self up riding (unless you never want your kid to have friends or seem some what appealing to others, do not rush to his or her aide every damn fall, let them learn from their own mistakes.)

seriously though the jist of all that is, just let them be.

If you get too know the people at your local they will be nice and appreciate the sport. If you travel too a new park watch what everyone's doing and get into the flow of things.

A big reason why skaters/bikers hate scooters is because it's a trend to make fun of scooter riders and they're trying to fit in and make they're friends laugh. But I never get shit for it though, probably because I don't snake. Being tall helps too.
