cool, zak. Having a chopped brake - being a weigh freak when it comes to whips. Same here, only that i smacked my brake between some boxes so it snapped (not from up to down, but from down to up, some wooden plate got between the wheel and brake hah) and i don't miss my brake - lost a little weight on whips, brake was crazy high anyway (that's why it had to mount a 125mm wheel), and the little part of the brake that i still have, it protects my foot getting against the wheel. I could probably get a new one, but i don't want a big ass brake. (for those who would ask if i could mount a razor brake, then the answer is - it can be mounted, but the spring isn't big enough to hold the brake all the way up against the deck, besides, it would made it holding too high too, again).
Here's the setup i've ridden since august (old pictures).
reinforced bullet deck
sealed fsa pig dh pro
rad v2 bars with Cory's old spray paint still on it
ugly 1 1/4" seatpost clamp
rubber ring under the headset nut - no retightening at all.
odi longnecks
shadow barends
reinforced fork with long fork tube
skategrip
abec-5 bearings
snapped brake
yak 100mm wheels
It's getting pretty worn out so, by next year it will have:
Alan's Ti barends, custom made;
maybe a new powdercoated paint (i just can't pick a new color to match);
a welded mech since the 6mm-diameter bolts under the mechanism are too weak to not let that mech move (the bolts are only good to hold the reinforcements);
a SR fork with compressor;
some new 1 1/4" clamps;
and a new grip. The one i'm riding, is basicly over 3 months old, is dirty and worn down, has to be renewed.
