Whats " vig " ?

Might be a stupid question but how do you compare among different lenses from different brands? Is there a factor to consider such as ( for example ) Tokina lenses have a better quality glass compared to Sigma? Also , if I buy a second hand lens from a shop ( not online ) , what kind of things do I have to check before buying?

i talked to mike mcgowan(sp?) about these he said the one erik is geting is better for the money he has one and his pictures are legit

they are good but the thing is they have vig and if you dont want that you zoom in to like about 10mm which the tokina is....also i think theyre only manual focus? im not really sure on that though

yeahh, fully manual

which kind of sucks its hard to manual focus on things when you want the camera kinda low because its got a fisheye
most of the time i just hold mine low and dont look into the view finder and just let the autofocus do the work
also when its dark out its hard to see what to focus on but if you just pop your flash up it lights it up and then the autofocus would do it for you you cant do that with a peleng fisheye

yeah. and i heard that the DOF is really bad, since its focusing is really close up or infinity, not between the two.

and for wireless af lighting, press the DOF button on the side of your camera, next to the lens release, and it turns on a focusing light

Mike's got this thing you connect onto the eye piece so you can look straight down at the camera to see what your looking at. I have no clue what its called though

And as for what i was going to say on the peleng VS.Tokina someone beat me to it, it's not always about the better quality lens, but more about the
better quality photographer along with and/or knowledge of photography, Mike proves this with his photography.


And since when on sr is putting people down and saying "don't listen to this person" allowed? Then in another section i see someone being threatened to be banned for making a post that was declared "uneeded". there is such little respect on this site it's unbearable.

dof is terrible on any fisheye haha unless your upclose
