Quick question, how are free-wheels compared to cassettes?
free-wheels fucking suck, get a cassete if you have a lil bit more money.
I'd love to have a free-coaster, fakieing on a bike feels much better since you feel more stable compared to a scooter and safe. lol

seriously people!?
the gap on a freecoaster is there so you don't destroy your bearings when your learning not move your feet when you 180. when your in fakie and you engage the driver thats what fucks up the bearings. when you get better at not pedaling you can adjust the gap in the freecoaster to lower or higher by putting a washer in it.

plus after riding it for a week you get used to the gap.
they aren't bad

Boo freecoasters, cassettes are so much better. I don't think people should get freecoasters unless they have fakies completely on dial. Even then, fakies look a lot better with back pedaling.

I have to say that I love Ian Schwartz, Bruce Crisman and Karl Poynter a ton. Ian Schwartz most, he just pulls it off super smooth, and he's been riding one for ages, a lot of other people just don't use them well, it's hard to describe.
nigga you crazy

ive been riding mine its so good. and backpedaling in a fakie looks u g l y, cassettes aint got no alibi

i know mine look sketchy but idc what people think, i ride for my enjoyment

alex that guy is really good but then watch ian and it looks so much better. the fakie master owns but it doesnt look good when he starts to backpedal really fast before he did the half cab down the stairs. all im saying is freecoasters are more fun for me and when someone is good at it, it looks way better than cassette

and how do the bearings on a freecoaster break. bret and i have been riding them for a month or two now and we havent broke a bearing and people complain about them breaking

they dont break as easy, there wayyyy cheaper, they start to pedal right when you want them to. freecoasters have slack. which means that when you pedal it takes a quarter or half crank for them to start pedaling. but if your not into freecoasters watch Chase Dehart and that new Dakoda Roche kid on fit. they both ride like they have one but they dont.
when i got mine the gap was a horrible half of a full crank. i took off to have some fun and smashed my knee on the stem twice. i instantly took apart the wheel and added 2 of 3 spacers. now it engages in like 1/9 of a full crank its great

It's this weird freecoaster that works different than normal ones, but it clicks, which is the only reason I'd want a coaster lol.

i heard that apparently at a bike show eastern had like a prototype hub that could be run either cassette or freecoaster. Also on khe site somewhere they said they are working on new freecoaster that you can adjust the gap from the outside of the hub and get it to the point where it engages almost instantly

the KHE one is out allready
but the hub shell is made by Alienation

and if i ever get a freecoaster, i WILL get a rollacoaster
and rollacoasters also have the adjustable slack on the axle

yea the space when you dont pedal is called slack. and when about the bearings. when you go backwards there is a thing inside of the hub that goes backwards and it hits up against a bearing and the bearing will wear out after a while. if your not totally hard core on them they will last a long time. but if you add a fakie to every single one of your tricks then it will wear out. if you a totally geek or hardcore fan about this watch how they work right here its a really good video. one of the odyssey guys tells you all about it. the project designer or something.

a freecoaster web site that has every coaster ever. and how to take care of them and just everything. also there are only like a couple of coasters on the market that are real good right now
KHE reverse
KHE geisa street light
Federal F/C with KHE internals
Poverty Freeloader/ downside though is its harder to find. mostly always used. and you want to mod it like Ian schwartz does:]
there are a couple other ones but these are the most popular
i think shadow is working on a coaster right now

the coaster site

Yeah, I took apart Taylor's Geisha street when he got it so I pretty much get it. The reason the Reverse and other clones get messed up is because the bearings are small (at least more so than other freecoaster/cassettes) so they blow out much more easily. I've heard of people that did it in a week.
