New wheel idea.

Kc was saying: I want to make a wheel with a bolt on "hub." The core will be around $100 and the urathane will be $20. I said no one is going to buy a $120 dollar wheel, let alone a pair of $240 wheels.

well you wouldnt want to just bolt on the urethane like that. you would want it to be bonded to a ring like normal wheels. that thin piece of urethane in the middle would be broken easily. also i was thinking about smaller bolts going around the edge, not 5 bigger bolts in the center, so the core is thicker in the middle and the ring wouldnt have to be almost a full core. the price of the core is a bit too much though. i was thinking something like.. 30 bucks for each side, and 20 for the urethane ring, that might be too low though im not sure. 160 a pair would be worth it if it only cost 20 bucks if you dehub it.

but thats pretty much the same concept.

I don't see how that core could be $100. Some decks are being made for like $70~, There's no way it costs near that to make one of those cores.

Id be good if you could just buy utherane rings and get some super dooper mega ultra glue that would stick to the core lmao, but thats not gonna happen

You've basically brought the idea of car tires to scooters. A whole new market of 'Rim' designs would spring up and different hardness of PU would count as tires that can be changed when worn and perform based on what you need.

it would be annoying cause you would have to tighten it up all the time and then when someone sees you tightening it at the skatepark they will think you are retarded cause YOUR TIGHTENING A WHEEL.

I just had an Idea, the cores could be weighted?
Like, you could have light cores for a certain style and heavy cores for another? Im liking this idea now...

ive always wanted to try to make scooter wheels very similar to bike wheels. like weave the spokes in them and be able to true it, and it could be really light. who knows
